Tlie Kidneys are two in number, situated at the upper part of the loin, surrounded by fat, and con sisting of three parts, viz: the Anterior, the Interi or, and the Exterior. The anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissues or vi*iiis, w hu h serve as a deposit for the urine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a con ductor also, terminating in a single tube, and called Hie Ureter. The ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various coverings or tissues, divided into parts, viz: the Upper, the I. .wer, the Nervous, and the Mucous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have a desire to urinate w ithout the ability; others urinate without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs in children. To cure these affections, w e must bring into ac tion the muscles, which are engaged in their vari ous functions. If they are neglected, Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also be made aware, that who ever slight may be the attack, it is sure to affect the hodilv health and mental powers, as our flesh and blood are supported from these sources. Gon\ oi; UhEi MATiSM.—Pain occurring in the loins is indicative of lhe above diseases. They oc cur in persons disposed to acid stomach and chalk;, concretions. The Gkavel.-—The gravel ensues from neglect or improper treatment of the kidneys. These or gan* being weak, the water is not expelled from the bladder, but allowed to remain; it becomes fever ish, and sediment forms. It is from this deposit ,nui me stone i- Mrmca, anu gruvei ensues. I)BOl'»Y Is a collection of water in some parts of :he body, and bears different names, according to Lho parts affected, viz: when generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarca; when of the abdomen, Ascites; when of the chest, Hydrotho rax. Trk \tmi nt.—HelmlioM’s highly concentrate*! compound Extract iiucliu is decidedly one of the be.-t remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings, rheumatism, and gouty affections. Under this head we have nr range* 1 Dysuria, or difficulty and pain in passing water. Scanty Secretion, or small and frequent discharges nf water; Strangury, or stopping of water; Hema turia, or bloodv urfne; <*oui and Rheumatism of the kidneys, without any change in quantity, but increase in color, or dark water. It was always highly recommended by the late l)r. Physiek, in these* affections. This medicine increases the power * if digestion, and excite* the absorbents into healthy exercise bv which the watery or calcareous depositions, ami all unnatural enlargements, as well as pain ami in flammation, are reduced, ami it is taken by men, women| and children. Directions for use and diet accompany. Pnii.AUKi.rniA, l\n»., Feb.25, 1«07. 1I T. Hia.miiou), Druggist—Dkar Silt: I have been u sufferer for upwards of twenty years with gravel, bladder and kidney affections, during which time I nave used various medicinal preparations, j and been under the treatment of the most eminent physicians, experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparations extensively ad vertised, 1 consulted my family physical! in regard i to using your Fxtrtict iluchu. I did this because 1 bad used a’l kinds of adver tised remedies and had found them worthless, and ' some quite injurious; hi fact, I despaired of ever getting well, and determined to use no remedies hereaiter unless 1 knew of the ingredients. It was this that prompted me to use your remedy. As you ! advertised that it was composed of bttchu, cuhebs and juniper berries, it occurred to me and my phys ician as an excellent combination; and with his ad vice, niter an examination of the article and con sulting again with the druggist, I concluded to try it. I commenced to use it about eight months ago, at w hich time I was confined to my room. From the first bottle 1 was astonished at the ben eficial effect, and after using it three weeks was able to walk out. 1 felt much like writing to you a full statement of my ease at the time, but thought my improvement might only be temporary, and therefore concluded to defer, ami see it it.‘would effect a perfect cure, knowing then it would be ol greater value to you uud more satisfactory to me. 1 am now able to report that a cure is effected, i after using the remedy for five mouths. I have not used any now for three months, uud leel as well in all respects as 1 ever did. Your Ituchu being devoid of any unpleasant taste and odor, a nice tonic and invigoratorof the system. I do not mean to be w ithout it w henever occasion may require Its use In such affections. M. McCOUMICK. Should any doubt Mr. McCormick’# statement, he refers to the following gentlemen : linn. If so, do not lay it to your #iver or dyspepsia. Have you restless nights’? Vour back weak, your knees weak, and have but little appetite, and you attrib ute this to dyspepsia or liver-complaint ? Now. reader, self-abuse, venereal diseases badly cured, and sexual excesses, arc all capable of pro ducing a weakness of the generative organs. The organs of generation, when in perfect health, make lit man. Did you ever think that those bold, de riant, energetic, persevering. succr*siui humiii'." men are alwnvs those whose generative organs are in perfect health / You net cr hear sueh men romjj plain of being melancholy, of nervousness, ot pal pitation of the heart. They are never afraid tnev cannot succeed in business; they don’t become sad ami discouraged; they are always polite and pleas ant in the company of ladies, and look >ou and them right in the face—none of vour downcast looks or any other meanness about them. 1 do not mean those’who keep the organs inflated by running to excess. These will not only ruin their constitutions, Imt also those they do business with or for. How many men*, from badly cured diseases, from the effects of self-abuse and excesses, hrvo brought about that state of weakness in those organ* that ha* reduced the general system so much a* to in duce almost every other disease—idiocy, lunacy, paralysis, spinal ’affections, suicide, and almost every other form of disease which humanity i* heir to. aiid the real cause of the trouble scarcely ever suspected, and have doctored for all but the right one. Allow me to call your attention to my PREPAR ATION OF COMPOUND EXTRACT ltUCHU. The component parts are BUCHU, Long Leaf, CUBEBS, JUNIPER BERRIES. # Mods of Pkkpa ration .—Buchu, in vacuo. Juniper Berries, by distillation, to form a fine gin. Cubebe extracted by displacment with spirits ob tained from Juniper Berries; very little sugar is used, and a small proportion of spirit. It is more palatable than any now in use. Buchu, as prepared by Druggists, is of a dark color. It is a plant that emits its fragrance; the action of aflame destroys this (its active principle), leaving a dark and glutinous decoction. Mine is the color ot ingredients. The Buchu in my prepar ation predominates; the smallest quantity of the other ingredients are added, to prevent fermenta tion ; upon inspection, it will be found not to be a Tincture, as made in Pharmacopma, nor is it a Syrup—and therefore can be used in cases when* fever or inflammation exists. In this, you have the knowledge of the ingredients and the mode of pre paration. Hoping that you will favor it with a trial, and that upon inspection it will meet with your appro bation.
