What the Editor of the "Fescue" Eas to fay About It. Captain A. T). Wood, the editor of the 7iV.cu>, which is the organ of the Good Templar organization in this State — num berrog it ii claimed about 20,000 member* and about 5,000 voters — vu approached re cently and asked for his views of the Sun -1 day-law plank of the Republican platform. I He had just read the view taken of it by ' L>r. McDonald of the Home Protective So : ciety, and he replied that he tcuk the Eame view of it, and thought that a large por tion, if not all of the Good Templars of the State would take the came view, viz., that the so-called Sunday-law plank was en tirely unsatisfactory and unworthy of truat or rupport. The ro'usal of the Committee on Resolutions to introduce a local option plank was in itself sufficient reason for re jecting the platform, in the view of Good Templars and thosß who held ttie Reform Convention of the i lth of July in Associa tion Hall, for they distinctly made the in sertion of a local option plank in the Be ; publican platform a condition of giving it ! their support. But the committee not only ; refused this reasonable demand, but stamped out as soon as it was made a prop osition to recommend amending the present i Sunday law sa as to make it effrc ( tive. The long aud short of the motion was that the Republican politicians had thought to catch the vote of the Siir.day. law people and temperance people with a little molasses, making a great hurrah over sustaining on the statute book the present inefficient and practically dead- letter law. He was not disappointed, but on the con trary it was just what he expected from the Republican party. They always had treated the temperance peonle in this way, •and always would, he thought, until they became a separate party and ran an inde pendent ticket. Then they wonld show their strength. It was so in lowa. They could get nothing satisfactory from the Re publicans until they set up for themselves ; then they became a power, and the linal result was jast seen in the passage of a pro | hibitory constitutional amendment by a large majority vote. It would be so here, and in his opinion it would be much better to draw out from the Republican party, stand by their colors firmly, let the Demo crats win this tight and repeal th« ineffect ive Sunday law, than to yield and vote the Republican ticket as Ihey had done before; for a reaction would surely ome, their strength would be proved and prohibition I eventually gained as in lowa. _" Legal" notice^ PROBATE NOTICE.
