Michael Slattery, who tried to carve his companions in a pedro game in a Point Lotos avenue salcoa about a month ago, kas been held to annwer by Jndge Itix, with bail set at $1,000. William Gorman, John Phillips, Isaac Lekapßy, Jerry McCarthy, Patrick Mc- Carthy and Fred. Peterson, all Industrial School escapes, have been held by Judge Boseubaum to answer for felony in break ing from their jaiL The steam whaler Orea ie rapidly near ing completion at Yallejo-street wharf. John McAdoo, arrested some time ago for assault to murder, for having ehot and wounded James Anderson at hia residence, No. 25 Twenty-third street, was, after a partial examination in the Police Court, re leased from custody on riling a bond in the sum of ?2,000. Tuesday, when the case was called, he failed to put in an appear ance, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. Sumptcr E. Dogf>ett, who killed Robert Sheridan on the 11th day of November, ISSI, in a room on Stockton street during a fight over an abandoned woman, for which he was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to the State Prison for three and a half years, was granted a new tiial by the Supreme Court Tuesday, because certain instructions to the jury asked for by the defendant were t.ot given by the Court below. Toe body of an unknown man found in bed at 533 Commercial street on Monday afternoon has been identified as that of Michael Fitzpitrick, a boiler-maker, who was shot in tha neck in an ail'ny in China town some months since. When he was discharged from the County Hospital, a few da} 8 ago, the wound was still unbealed outwa'dly, and for tome time it was thought it had caused his death. An au topsy, however, showed that death resulted from pneumonia. The deceased was a native of New York and 3S years of age. Jloee Aguero, a Mexican woman, wife or mistress of Felippe Aguero, living in South San Francisco, on Tenth avenue, was as saulted by Felippe Tuesday afternoon. At that hour the ran into the honse of a neighbor, screaming, and told them that her husband was drunk and had attempted to murder her, [beating her on the head with a soda-water bottle, and, pulling up her clothes, had tried io inflict a wound on her person with a razor. Felipps was ar rested by officers Eastman and O'Connell and charged at the south district station house with an assault with a deadly weapon. The woman presented a terrible sight. Oae oye was closed completely, the chin was covered with a plaster, which, when removed, disclosed a gash, and there were several severe cuts on the back of her head. Her face, on one side, was consid erably- swollen. At the meeting of the Geographical So ciety of the Pacific Coast Tuesday evening, the Secretary, C. Mitchell Grant, read a paper on the discovery of America by the Norsemen. General George W. He also related the progress the Geographical Society in New York had made, untill now it had a membership of 1,500. He hoped that the Society which had been organized here would bs as suc cessful. The complaint recites that the assessment of the corporation was tired by the State Bjard of Realization at $504, --825, upon a tax of £1 per mile for the franchise, $7,000 per mile for roadbed and rails, and £3.543 per ir.ile on the rolling stock.
