Written proposals will be received at the Office of the Commissary General of Purchases, until the 30th of October en suing, to furnish for the United Stales* military service seventy thousand yards of cotton drilling, and eighty hve thou sand yards ofcctlon shirting of domestic manufacture. Samples ol the drilling and shirting, on which it is intended to found contracts for those articles, will be transmitted to any manufactuier who shall make application for them, by letter addressed to this office, with such infor mation as may he requested. A con tract will not be made with the same ma nufacturer, or company, for a greater number of yards than 2o,ou0, of either shirting or drilling. Bonds with sureties will be required fc' the due execution of all contracts : and no shirting or drilling which shall be declared by die United Mates' Inspector to be in any respect in ferior to the sample on which the contract is founded, will be received at any ptice.
