Value But Higher lrices ' Increase About $200,000. St. John's, N. F., No. 10. Although the total catch of cod ofE the Labra dor coast in the fishing season just ending was somewhat less than that of last year, the higher prices ob tained gave it an increase in value estimated at $200,000. More than ten thousand men and women were engaged in the fisheries, in which 852 vessels participated. The women, numbering about a thousand, were employed in caring for the fish landed at the numerous stations established along, the coast. The fishermen are now preparing fop the winter herring fisheries off the west coast of Nlewfoundland. Reports received from the coast indicate that there will be more actively then usual in this direction, because of the cur tailment of imports to Canada andl the United States from Europe as a result of the suspension of fishing in the North Sea.
