fcmi-Finals Are Now Being I'layeU
In the Alley Con-
tests
The third round of the bowling
tournament at the Y. M. C. A. was
played off last Saturday. There
are now four men lined up for the
senii-iinals to be played next week,
with a possibility of two others
playing off their third rounds and
winding up in the semi-finals.
The spectacular event of the week
was the playing of L. Hunter who
had missed the first two rounds.
He played' three men Saturday and
registered a win over each man.
The ones to fall before him were:
R. Loomls with scores of 76 to 75
and 92 to 61; H. Rehm with scores
of 109 to 72 and 92 to 80, and G.
Anderson with scores of 108 to S3;
102 to 1 10 and 106 to S5.
The men who are to compete in
"Tiny" Osborne, one of Brooklyn's
star pitchers, claims to have the
largest pair of hands In baseball.
One of his favorite tricks is to hold
five league balls In one hand at the
same time. He can do it without
difficulty as the above layout re
veals. If you think it's a sort ot
easy feat, take a fling at it and see.

Tomorrow Is tha big night at the
Y. M. C. A. when the two Corbln
teams will meet in one game play
off for the championship of the In
dustrial league.
Indications r that both teams
will be able to put their strongest
lineup on the floor, bo whichever
team wins, the other will have no
ulibl of this sport.
The Cabinet Lock men will atart
with Waltlier and Carrazza at for
ward, with "Chief!" .arson Jumping
center and Nyborg and Yankaskas as
the guard. Thla strong combination
will be relieved, if ' occasion de
mands, by the strong second string
men, headed by Goodie Prelsser,
Linn and Bassett.
The 1'. and V. boya will start with
Shultz and Jasper in forward, Ray
Holso center and Paris and Arburr
guards. Their second string staff Is
headed by Pinkerlon, with the other
reserves Including Hallln, l'eldman
and Bralton,
It is hard to pick a favorite from
these two teams as each outfit la a
topnotcher. The only thing in
favor of the I.ockmakers Is that they
have won two straight from their
rivals, being the only teama to turn
the trick. On. the other hand, when
they did win two games the P. and
F. outfit was mot up to Us fullest
strength.
Each team plays an entirely dif
fcrent type of game, though each Is
strong on teamwork. The 1 . ana i'.
boys rely on fast, speedy footwork,
a baffling series ot passes and
youthful vim and dash to put across
their victory. The I.ockmarkers, no
doubt just as .skilled In their way,
are a bit more crafty in their play,
they take full advantage of the
physical strength of their men and
pay especial attention to guard
work. All In all It should be a
humdinger of a game and "Chick"
Hays doubtless will have his hands
full from start to finish.

The Orioles lest their first game.
!.of the season Saturday afternoon
jjwhen poor fielding gave the Maple
0 woods, Meriden city champs, an l!-9
j victory. Two passes and an outfield
error started the visitors in the first
inning, but the Orioles came back to

lead alternated, but two more errors

Orioles' filial stand in the ninth was

P. & F. Team Crippled
By Loss of Joe Jasper
This noon the manager of the P.
and F. team gave out a statement
that changes materially the sense of
the above story, and makes the
chances of his five tomorrow night
appear somewhat less rosy.
The death last night of the father
of Joe Jasper, the Corbin forward
star, has made It Obvious tnai ne
will be unable to play tomorrow
night. This makes it necessary for
the P. and F. boys to Use a sub
forward and since Jasper and
Schultz have played together all sea
son the use of a strange forward
will upset the Corbin teamwork.
The management endeavored to
have the C. C. L. agree to a post-
nonement in view of the cireunir
stances but the request was refused.
