The Stone Mountain Memorial association an nounced today that President Cool idge had accepted as a gift the first coin minted under the act of con gress authorizing five million half dollars In memory of the valor of Confederate soldier. Tho gift was Inlaid on a plate of Georgia gold. The coin I the first one that came from the mint Janu ary 21, the anniversary of the birth of Stonewall Jackson. It was also announced that Sec retary Mellon will be presented with the second coin, inlaid in a plate of silver and that the third and fourth coins, similarly Inlaid are to be given to Under-Secretary Win ston and Robert J. Fire In a small shed at the rear of 145 Washington street this morning caused about $25 damage before it was put out by the Are department about 11:20 o'clock. An alarm from Box 32 was sent In for the blaze, Engine Co. 4 answered a still alarm this afternoon for a fire In an au tomobile owned by the Wise, Smith company of Hariford. A short cir cuit in the wiring caused the blaze. Thief Uses Key to Rob Main St. Gas Station The Colonial gas station at 93 Main street was entered last night and $50.75 stolen from a hiding place In the cellar according to a report received this morning by the police. Sergeant Tatrick J. O'Mara went to the station to investigate and learned that entrance to the place was gained by use of a key and the thief evidently knew where the money was concealed In the cel lar, for nothing In the place had been disturbed when it was openefl this morning. A trap door in the floor was openeii and the thief went to the hiding place In the cellar and secured the money. Two men are employed st the station and both Insisted to Sergeant O'Mara that no one else had keys to the piece, and tjiat th hiding place was only known to them. WILE INCREASE FARE Stamford. May 29. MARKET REFLECTS I Heavy Selling ol Pan American Oil Issues Today New York, May 29. (AP) Heavy selling of the Pan-American issues. Inspired by th unfavorable court decision against that company in th Elk Iini and Hawaiian contract cases featured th Irregular opening of today' stock market. Pen-Amer-If'an A opened S 1-4 point lower and the B 8 point. Reading moved up 1 1-4 to 88,' a new high record for th year, and American Water Work and Inspiration Copper each opened a point higher. Good buying support was provided for the general list and th market waa soon headed upward. The Pan American Issue recovered nearly half of their initial loss' before the end of the first half hour but mid Continent dropped back 1-1-4, Mack truck 1 and Corn product sank to a new 1925 low at 82 5-8. Havana Electric, of which the floating up ply is scarce, quickly moved up 8 point to a new record top at 155 and Maxwell A, Fisher Body, Elec tric Power preferred, Frank O. Shat tuck. Putnam, district manaffer of the Connecticut Light & Power company, notified Chief William C. Hart of th police department today that h had received a complaint from Mrs. A. Bochm of 651 Stan ley street that a man, representing himself as an agent for the light company, had visited her house and made an inspection of the electric light fixture. Mrs. Boehm said that the mn had no identification card or other credential, nd she became suspici ons of him, so she watched him clos'ly as he went from room to room nd looked t all th lighting fixtures. She said that the remarks he made showed that h possessed only a superficial knowledge of electricity. Putnam, in his complaint, said that the company had received a similar complaint about two weeks ago from Maple Hill.
