Furthermore, there are no funds with which to carry out mission work, as stipulated by Mr. Burrltt. However, taxes on tie property are coming In regular ly and It is said that the land is an expense. Therefore, Mr. Skinner, as trustee ef .the estate. Is asking for permis sion to sell the property, since It will ba' possible to carry out the terms of the will. Whatever proceeds there may be from the sale of the property. If it ba fold, will be turned over to the Burrltt Mission on Cherry street for the support of that institution. Los Angeles, Aug, '20 UP) Dis covery of the body of Mrs. Grace Grogan Young, wealthy wife of Dr. Thomas Young,'' a dentist, on trial charged with suffocating her with lethal gaa and cementing her body at a cistern at their week-end cabin, near here, was graphically described on the witness stand here late yes terday by George Contreras of the district attorney's forces. Contrearas, who headed the force of men who dug the concrete bot tom from the cistern last June, de clared the body had apparently been thrown In the pit, covered with tar paper and eight inches of cement. "We found cotton stuffed in the nose of the corpse and a rubber bag jammed down the throat, after we had carefully cracked away the concrete covering," the witness tes tified. The district attorney in his open ing statement announced that the prosecution intended to prove that the dentist killed his wife to gain control of her fortune. Edward J. Aug. !0 LP The Interest ed powers have virtually agreed on their attitude toward the proposed conference cn the Chinese customs tariff. The foreign office In a state ment today said it had been agreed that tariff autonomy cannot be granted China at present. The agenda arranged by the Washington agreement must first be considered by the conference after which the delegates will decide regarding the discussion of any reasonable pro posals China may make. It ws generally agreed thj.t no decision should be made at present regarding the scope of the confer ence beyond the agenda provided by the Washington agreement. While pointing out that tariff autonomy could not be granted China at present, the foreign eff ice. added that this did not preclude a discussion of the matter after the Washington agenda had been dis cussed.
