The governor thus becomes the first slate chief executive In th United Slates to rely upon an air plane to get about to perform his official duties. Of course, the gov ernor also intends to ride between rialmtlle and Hartford Iri his air plane and will have a, neat little landing field near his home. The time may come when the state government will find It neces sary to provide an airdome In Hart ford to accommodate the airplanes of state representatives and sena tors. The example of the governor might be followed with advantage by Mr. Roraback himself. We have been told upon innum erable occasions that the greater part of the V. S. A. territorially speaking does not use anthracite, and that New England and the east also could get along without If. All of which may be quite true, but it Is hard to break a custom of such long standing as the use of anthracite coal for domestic heat in? purposes. We Imagine the an thracite coal Interesls are not greatly concerned regarding a pos sible change In the New England custom of demanding hard coal. The use of bituminous coal, even the kinds that create the least smoke and soot for bituminous would change the appearance of our New England communities in more ways than one. Happily, however, the expedition will not be hreft of the opportunity te mak scientific explorations clos er to the bane of Efah.
