Through the Static Lots of static early In tho even- big. Less static in tho middle of the i evening. More static toward tho end j of the evening. But, girls and boys, tliero was lots of volume, all kinds of it. From fi:3o o'clock on there uas volume galore and western sta tions camo In loud at that time, especially thoso on the low waves. WKC at Washington was a visitor at 5:45 o'clock, which shows what distance could lie) accomplished last nislit bc-foro tho 6 o'clock whistle blew, not that tho latter fact makes any difference, but It lends tho touch of labor to this column, lotting you know that wo have to work Just as well as the rest of you. Which Is m ta i ly irrelevant, The Hotel Gibson orchestra from WLW at Cincinnati put on a really excellent program during the dinner hour. One of tho numbers was the beautiful "Hymn To Tho Sun," one of Fri'z Krclsler's favorite numbers. This selection with Its weird tone colorings und shadings, was well done. "Russian Dance" lollowcd ami, limning into the popular, "Sonya" was played, but us a concert selec tion. These selections were given as illustration of Russian music, old and new. The station camo through with a great deal of volume and was unattended by any static or distur bance whatever, which, you will find, is often thi) case with the Cincinnati stutlon. The Bon-Bon Buddies, throtiitii WKAK and WF.K1, helped us to pass away a delightful half hour. These boys, in spite of the fact that they are advertising a brand of choco lates, didn't let that fact hamper their program. They otfeivj u series of request selections, going back Into the dark nges for some of their num bers, which were put over in great shape. WKKI came through slick and It was possible to understand every word the performers said, al though the station faded a hit from time to time. "So This Is Venice," rendered by the Buddies, in delight ful English accent, pleased us, as did tho rendition of "All Alone." They had many selections, but we liked those two best. It was American Composers' Night with the I'uited States Army band, broadcasting through WCAP, Wash ington, and several other stations, including WKAK. Volume was good on the Washington broadcaster and tliu deep tones of the instruments came through clearly. "American Melodies," a mixture of several well known selections, was one of the numbers. The program closed Willi "The Star Spangled Banner." We heard one selection on the Steinway Hall concert by the Flhuso Trio, through WHZ, This was "Sonata in F .Major," a well played selection which calkd for mastery on the part of the musicians. Kdith Lang, organist, also from WBZ. offered a "Medley of Old Songs." which took w-ell. The deep, throbbing tones of the organ blend ed well, and WBZ's transmission, better than usual, helped the pro gram to "get ov Included in this Laurie," "iligli '.lust a Song at medley re "A n 11 i. and land Lassie" Twilight." We hurri. we heard Hi a group of back to WT1C, when Tassillo's orclie.stia in played numbers, The Mannekins," old but "March of still inti resting, "Every One al Home Is Asking for You." ten cent sentiment, and "No Man's Mama." a hot number, were (lie three we 'neard.
