Concord, N. H., March :! P Steps have beeq taken by the state administration to remove Judge Fred A. Jones of the Lebanon fu nlclpal court, who -stands charged with manslaughter in connection with Ihe death of a woman In (in automobile, accident. Governor John 0. Vi riant has called upon Julgu Jones to resign. Under New Hampshire law a mu nicipal court judge cannot, bo re moved, except by action of the. legis lature. Should the .fudge refuse to render his resignation, it was said, the legislature would be "asked to take measures, Judge Jones has not as yet revealed his intentions in con nection with the governor's demand. An automobile driven by the judge jumped an embankment near Hanover on January "3 and over turned on the ice of a river bed In feet below. Mrs. Mildred Presley of 1. fl.annn was killed. Miss Olgn. Vis ciiso of 1, (banen was injured se. verely, Judge Jones also suffered In juries and J. 1. Karnes, the fourth member of the par'y, escaped un hurt. The four were returning to Lebanon from Hanover in the early morning hours when the accident occurred. On .the following day a warrant charging Judge Jones with man slnught' r ias Hied and the state, au thorities suspended his license to op erate an automobile. On February 3, as soon as he. had recovered siif lidentjy from his injuries, the judg'o I was placed imdfr arrest. Washington, March 20 (ff) Twenty-four lawyers Jiavo been disbarred from practice before the treasury department as a result of investiga tion of charges of collusion between them and employes of tho internal revenue bureau. A list of those dlsparred, made public today by Secretary Mellon, also included 15 olhers who have been suspended. The disbarments covered a period of three years. Charges against the lawyers were varied, some including attempts of attorneys to bribe employes of the Income tax unit and others involving efforts by the lawyers to get lists of taxpayers subject to extra assess ment.
