JOHN PINCHES CLAIMEDBY DEATH Apoplectic Stroke Is Fatal to Prominent Social Worker Mrs. Henrietta rinches, aged 77, widely known social worker and prominent in the activities of the International Sunshine society, died early last night at her home on Worthington Ridge, Berlin. Her death, though sudden, was presaged by an illness of six months' dura tion. At no time up to yesterday was her condition regarded as criti cal. Death was due to an apoplec tic stroke. Mrs. Pinches was born in Spring field. Mass., June J 7, 5 852, and was married to John Pinches, also of Springfield, in the city of her birth, on May 14, 1 8 73. They removed to Hartford, where they lived four years, coming to New Britain in market was thrown into confusion 1 877. Marlboro Man Dead; Wife Hurt in Crash Hartford, Oct. 31 P) Walter Ebentheuer, 24. of Marlboro, is dead and his wife, 21, is being treated for injuries at the Hartford hospital as 1he result, of an accident early today on the East Hartford dry bridge, when their light roadster skidded on wet, pavement, carried away the heavy iron barrier on the north side and fell 25 feet from the bridge to land, bottom side up. Mr. Kbentheuer. the driver, was taken to the Hartford hospital with his wife, shortly after the accident and he died at 8:52 without re gaining consciousness. They were on their to work in Hartford. Claims First Hoover Of German Descent Berlin, Oct. 31 (UP) A memor andum published today by Prof. Herman Macco. noted German genealogist, claimed President Her bert Hoover had been proven to be of German descent. Professor Macco started to trace President Hoover's family tree last January. He paid six visits to the Palatinate where he claims he traced the president's lineage to Andreas Huber, a native of Eller stadt nar Bad Puerkhelm. who em igrated to America in 1738. Previous efforts to trace the pres ident's lineage have led to claims that the first Hoover to come to this country was Andrew Hoover who spelled his name Andreas Hoover and who settled in Maryland in 1 735. Whether he was a German, Dutchman or Walloon has remained the subject of genealogical contro versy. IITll.n ON BUNCH WARRANTS Winsted. Oct. 31 (P)The body of an unidentified man, who had been shot through the head after he had been "taken for a ride," the police believe, was found today near a South Brooklyn lumber yard. The man was about .10 years old. No ono in the vicinity heard a shot. Po lice arranged to take his finger prints to determine whether he had a criminal record. Deaths Mrs. Nellie Dudjack Mrs. Nellie Dudjack. one of the organizers and most prominent members of the Holy Trinity Greek Catholic church on Beaver street, died yesterday at her home, 28 Sex ton street, following a lingering ill ness. She was 50 years of age. Born in Czecho-fdovakia, she emigrated to this city about 30 years ago and since had resided here. She was the wife of Theo dore. Dudjack. prominent real es tate man in this city. She was widely known among Czecho-Slovakian residents. Besides her husband, she is sur vived by a son, Theodore, Jr. Funeral services will be held Sat urday at 8 o'clock at the home and at 9 o'clock at Holy Trinity Greek Catholic church. Plane "Lost" in Chicago; City Lights Bonfire Chicago, Oct. 31 (P-An unidenti fied airplane, evidently lost In low heavy fog. flew over the downtown district before daylight and dropped I two flares, indicating the pilot was lost. I The sound of the plane's motor . was tl rat heard shortly after 1! o'clock over the near north side. A few minutes later two flares were dropped. The Tribune tower was lighted to give the flyer his bearings and a huge bonfire was built on a large vacant, lotr suitable for an emergency landing place. Flying fields turned on their floodlights. WILD RALLY HALTS IN PR0FITTAK1NG Sharp Rebound Slows Down When Traders Cash in New York, Oct. 31 (Pt The rally in slock prices, which started yes terday when powerful buying sup port was supplied by leading finan cial interests, was resumed with considerable violence at the delay ed opening of today's market. Prices of scores of issues bounded upward 5 to SO points at. the start, and one stock jumped 75 points above the previous sale, but the wild advance attracted heacy profit-taking which nuickly carried many stocks down 2 to 12 points below the opening quotations. Reduction of the Bank of F.ng land discount, rate from 6 1-2 to C per cent, which was expected to be followed by a reduction In the New York federal reserve rediscount rate after (lie rltfse of the market, coupled with (lie statement of John D.
