Anderson rnd David Nodlin. all of tlie Quartermas ters' Corps, Fort Shatter. Three men listed on the police report of the af fair and said to have been combatants in the melee gave names of George K. Robinson, Company D; Cpl. W. C. Scott, Company K, and Clyde Powell. Company H. all Second Infantry. It was Robinson whose face was swollen and cut. The police report that the threp ar rested men got into an altercation with the Second Infantry men and a flrht ensued. The story goes that the Secoud Infantry men took refuge iu a Japanese store owned by Yamane. Policeman Isaac K. Waiolama, who led five policemen and Cpl. Srumanski of Company L, Second Infantry, in charge of the provost guard, reports that the soldiers were shooting and generally stirring up a riot. He sayi" they were using their guns freely, fir ing and shouting and throwing stones. A .22 caliber rifle, a box of .22 cal iber cartridges and a razor, all sail to be Anderson's property, and a .38 caliber revolver and a box of .38 cal iber cartridges, said to belong to Dif fen, were taken from the men. HILO MAY SECURE BRANCH OF LOCAL JAPAN CONSULATE It is rumored that: the Japanese government will establish a branch office of the consulate in Hilo in the very near future. Consul General R Aioroi has made a request that sue!: a branch be established in the Cres cent City, and It has been proposed to appoint T. Tmai in charge. Mr. and Mrs. T. imai recently re turned from Japan, where they had spent their vacation. Imai was for mer secretary to the consul, and re cently received his appointment as vice-consul. Ixcal Jananese believe that a branch office of the consulate would till a long felt want in Hilo. Dr. Van Dyke, dean of the Rutgers College laculty, has resigned and his resignation will be accepted June 3d, when he shall have completed 5; ed boats to the coral gardens. The J years of service.
