There were great doings at the Hllo Yacht dub boat house and at the real home of the Yacht club on Sunday last when sev eral hundred e ember and their friends turned out to see the ' new barge launched and christened and also the naming of the older boats that belcng to the club. Then there was a chowder at the clubhouse fhd a good time altogether. The new boat was christened in due form and the name "EbukaJ." which means sea apray, was bestowed upon the tidy craft. The twin daughtera of Captain M. A. Nicol broke the bot tles of champagne with which the boats were christened. The ceremony was performed amid the cheers of the big crowd. The barge la a beauty and she rode the water in a faahlon that shows thai her name Is well chosen. The crew that went out in the barge declared that she is a fine type of the boat builder's art. In addition to christening tho new barge names were given the two WAIKIKI SURF RIDING FILMED FOR "MOVIES" What will undoubtedly' prove the most spectacular' and' thrilling "moviea" of surf riding at Wafklkl ever caught .by the motion picture camera, have been filmed ."by", Ira J. K-. etc. There was also a race between a couple of the crews over a short course and the spectators got a fore taste of what the regatta on July 4th is going to be like . The members of the club all ad journed to the yacht clubhouse after the morning events wre over and then a fine chowder was enjoyed. The big room of the clubhouse was dec orated with ferns and flowers and the place looked very well Outside the house, on the grass under the shady treee. were spread large mats and many people enjoyed their lunch In the open ate. The greater number of the member? and their friends remained at the clubhouse all the afternoon and swim ming was Indulged in by most of the men, women and children. The whole affair was a most enjoyable one and the members and visitors declared that they had spent a splendid day at Reed Baj. Y. W. C. A. They also are planning to add a clause which will definitely state that if tho mayor, as chairman of the board or any onj appointed in the mayor's absence, refuses to put a motion it may be put by a member of the board. By making these changes now it is believed Oat less friction will result and the board as a whole can get down to business much quicker as It t will simply amount to a motion bein? i put that the old rules be adopted as the permanent rules of the new board, j With the Republican members In the majority v present members say tho ; new rules should pass without an uo-1 due amount of discussion and the Re publican members take the commit teeships they want - Tho newly elected board of super visors will hold its first meeting at 12 o'clock Monday, July 2. The county clerk's office is now working hard toi get everything is readiness for the oc-! casion. Everyone connected with th-i office worked Sunaay morning and also this morning to catch up with the work which nas run behind be cause of the recent elections. A work of special importance which David Kalauokalani, county clerk, la preparing is data for the benefit of the new members in order that they may take their offices with a clearer understanding of their duties. This includes the names of all city and county employes with the salary each receives and a general resume of the work which the old hoard is bequeath ing their successors. . Kalauokalani is also preparing . a schedule of procedure for the first meeting, which will consist of tho meeting being called together by Mayor Fern followed by the report of the credentials committee. The roll call will then be taken, . the chaplain will offer up a prayer and the board will be ready for regular business. The first business of Importance to be taken up is-the adoption of rules and regulations, to govern the proced ure of the hoard for. the. next two years.
