Department of Justice today "and had
an interview With Attorney General
Knox. Tho Attorney General has
arranged for hearing of tho charges
against Judge Humphreys to bo held
next Monday or Tuesday. Judg
Humphreys will bo present as will
also be Frederick W. Hankey, who
represents those members of tho
Honolulu bar who arc antagonistic
to the Judge. At tho conclusion of
tho hearing the Attorney General
will take tho caso under advisement

Great Northern, forty miles cast of
Kalisnell. Mont., was tho worst in

American railroading. , Thirty-four
lives were lost and ten persons weiv

surely die, aud tho others wcro sc
riously hurt. By strenuous efforts fif
teen of tho bodies wcro taken from
tho wrecked cars. All the other
victims wero cremated, including
Supt. P. L. Downs and his son, T,

Joaquin Miller Wealthy.
Richmond, Int.., August 31. Joa
quin Miller, popularly known as tho
"Poet of tho Sierras," today notified
relatives in this city of his good for
tuho in tho Texas oil fields. A short
time before tho King gusher was
drilled at Beaumont, Mr. Miller went
to Texas and bought 701) acres o
laud near that Aty. His object was
to convert it into a ranch, and ho
was engaged in that when tho oil
boom came. Tho land cost him 10
an acre and ho has refused $100,000
for it and is holding it for a higher
price.

ings brought by Tom Fitch in Ivhalf
of Charles Divilbiss, who claims that
T. Taylor rind W. G. Scott, the
present supposed owners, defrauded
him out of a half interest in Ihe ves
sels, by a fraudulent salo at Kahului.
After tho Alice Kimball was wreHa d
at Kahului she was bought by Divil
biss and Scott, it is claimed for $125,'
and proceeded to try and save her
They spent $340 each, finally got hor
afloat. Divilbiss says that it was a
greed that each owned half tho vos'
sel and that tho tdtal was S2 500,
In July tho half owner Scott proceed'
ed to sell tho whole vossol to Taylor,
says tho libellant, contriving to qheat
and defraud Divilbiss out of his haU
of tho vessel. Taylor is now prepar
ing to livo Honolulu with tho vessel,
with intent to defraud Divilbiss of his
rights, as tho latter, and ho asks
tho court to order the vessel sold and
tho proceeds divided according to
law.
