At 8 o'clock the young bride en tered, leaning upon the arm of her father, Mr. M. A. Gonsalvcs, who also gave her away. She was preceded up the long aisle by her bridesmaid, Miss Nathalie Rodrigues, and littlo Adeline Rod rigues and Rose Mary Rodrigues as flower maidens. The bride wore a handsome con fection of white chiffon over white satin with elaborate trimmings of pearls, and a lace wedding veil which had been worn by her mother twenty-seven years ago. It was caught and arranged by clusters of orange blossoms and pearls. A muff bouquet of white carna tions and lace maidenhair and with cascades of these blossoms on strands of white tulle was carried. Miss Nathalie Rodrigues, as brides maid, wore a dainty blush pink mes saline gown with coral passement rie, and she carried a shower bou quet of Enchantress pinks and maid enhair, cascaded on strands of delicate pink tulle. Preceding the bridal party the two little flowers girls, dressed alike in lace and lingerie frocks, strewed tiny pink and white roses from baskets carried on their arms, the handles of which were caught by very large bows of white satin. Largo Imjws of white satin were also worn in their hair. As the bridal party proceeded up the aisle Lohengrin's Wedding March was played on the organ. At the altar the party was met by Mr. Percy Gorman and Mr. Ernest Gonsalves, his best man, and the Reverend Father Stephen, who per formed the ceremony. It was witnessed by about three hundred invited guests. . After the service the young couple turned and passed out to the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March, and motored to the home of the bride's parents where an informal reception was held for the relatives and intimate friends of the pair. Among others at the reception were Consul Canavarro, the Rever end Father Stephen, Dr. George Herbert, and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Roll of Maui, who had come es pecially to be present at the wed ding. Mr. and Mrs. Gorman left that night for Haleiwa, and returning on Friday departed for Kahului, Maui, where a beautifully appointed home awaited them. Haw. Star. Maui Racing. There is considerable talk among local horsemen, regarding a race for Hawaiian bred fillies, next year. T)t Hawaiian Star makes a sugges tion for the race which seems to be a good one, and should work out all right, with a few slight alteration. It is as follows: The Maui Hotel Stake, for mai den two and three-years-olds, two-year-olds to carrp 100 pounds ami three-year-olds to carry 119 pounds. The purse to be 8500 and the dis tance half a mile. Entries to close May 1, 1912. Owners to pay 825 when they en ter their horses, and 825 on or be fore June 28. Owners failing to make their last payment to forfeit the payment al ready made, and the right to start a horse. All entry fees over and above the amount of 8300 to be added to the stake . The winner to receive the stake and 50 per cent of the added money, if there be any. The second horse to receive 30 per cent of the added money. The third horse to receive 20 per cent of the added money. Xocate I Kids will be opened next week for the new roails to be built in the Makawao district and the bridges in the liana dis trict. Mr. K. I?. Baldwin has been elected president of the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co., taking the place of the late H. P. Baldwin. The money is coming in fast during the past few days for the new Union Church. The trustees feel quite elated over it. Dr. Scudder, Rev. Smith and Rev. Dodge have been making a tour around East Maui the past week. They ar rived home Friday evening, feeling tired but quite fit. Miss Margaret Restarick daughter of Bishop Restarick who has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Lufkin, return ed home on the Mauna Loa Thursday evensug. LOST. Gold watch and chain, Initials A. G. Matters of organization were discussed, aud Mr. II. A. Baldwin was elected chairman, with Mr. F. F. Bald win vice chairman. Chas. Wilcox re mains as secretary. Lieutenant and Mrs. Ross Kingsbury of Honolulu have new titles now other than hubby aud wifey they are mam ma and papa. Old daddy stork left his lair in the chimney top and deposited a wee little infant at the Kingsbury'9 home. Lieut. Kingsbury is a son of Judge Kingsbury. Mr. Kennedy the new manager of the Lahaina Store is a man of action. He is busy renovating the store inside and out, and perhaps some others will take the tip and give a much needed coat of paint to their buildings. Mr. Kennedy purposes having a big sale as soon as he gets the store fixed up, notice of which will appear later. Mrs. Mary Doherty Sylva, of Lahaina, celebrated her 88th birthday the 2nd iiist., her daughter Mrs. Annie Mulvany gave her mother a surprise party and dinner. A number of friends joined in wishing Mrs. Sylva many more years of health and happiness. Mrs. Sylva came to Hawaii nei 50 years ago and has re sided here ever since. Wailuku is fortunate in having at last someone who is enterprising enough to make an effort to give us good moving picture shows. Mr. Fernandez is here to stay if we give him any encourage ment. He has his own electric appara tus for showing hi9 pictures, and he has so far shown good pictures. It is his in tention to put on new pictures at each show, and make the prices low enough so people can go two or three times a week. Mr. Fernandez should receive the support of everyone in his under taking, and enable him to bring vau deville hare in addition to his pictures. Land Drawing.
