A Snow Slurui
Vesteiday our city was ver unexpectedly
vielted by h regular old tusliloned btinwatonn,
the first of the meafton, which conrmenced about
7 o'clock in the mornlngj and lasted until night.
It Is a strange scene to wltnen the green trees
oovered with a mantle of snow. Housetops,
streets and yards were covered with the sheet
ed drapery. Overshoes and overcoats wore in
great demand yesterday. Stoves and o her
warming apparatus met with prompt sale, and
a general M wlnterlsh" appearance pervaded
the city. This will soon diiutppear, and our
streets will become a pool t filth, slop and
mud, ai usual. "Our poor soldiers, in camp
and on the maroh, will have to Buffer," was the
oft repeated remark of the thoughtful and pa
trlotio, whom we melon the streets and elite
where. " God bless and preserve them," nay
we.
