If you desire to have winter vegetable delicacies anti early spring productions from your garden« now is tine time to make preparations for both objects, j ter cleaning up the garden; destroying the insects that infest the plants and small fruits, and working up all the beds not in use, you may look to the sowing of the following seeds and the setting out of plants; not forgetting to attend to tho other hint« we venture to offer For your guidance this month. Wo teem this one of the most important months in the year to the gardener, and generally is a trying one to him. Sep tember for winter luxuries from the garden is what April is to furnish those tor summer. Early in the month sow radish seeds— china white, or rose colored radish, Span ish white or black. They are jus hardy as the turnip, and may be treated exact ly like it, in cultivation and preserva tion. If you have not a patch of growing t urnips, sow at once some early-white. They will most probably mature and be very tender and delicate; if not, they will by being left over the winter, fur ni: li nice greens in early spring. Cauliflower .—Sow about tho 15th inst. some Heed, for storing the plants in cold frames. Cabbage.— Sow seeds at oneo for plants lube planted out this autumn, or like the cauliflower, to be planted thick' cold frames and kept, over for very early planting in the spring. We really have tried all kinds of early cabbage, but have never found any better or as good, in our judgment, than the Early York and the Large York. They are tho same only one is larger und a little later, and. perhaps looser in the head than the oth er. The Sugar Loaf is liked by many, and the Flat Dutch this year was into •kets very early and commanded liitrli prices owing to the size of the heads. Cabbage is eagerly sought after in early summer, and this year brought very high prices—as much oh twenty cents per head. This should be an in ducement for private and public garden ers to look to its extensive cultivation, it Is always saleable and will keep bet ter than other early summer vegetables. Hard a »State,—Save these carefully and put thorn away from all harm, Save none but from the best specimens. If you lmve anything that is peculiarly fine, save it to itself and cultivate it next year care fully. Thus if, is nature oit »n puts'a for tune into the hands of tho observant and painstaking horticulturist. Look at the Trophy tomato, tho early rose potato,&e., \v bulbs of the latter sold in France, eo it stated, for $1,300. Wo paid for first Trophy tomato At a t ever Bowed, a und never regretted it. nj Heil*. Keep the old Leila mt, and make new beds. tl eent per »S7 nnel, clean, tl loosulreeie.i, Currants and such small t new plantation« und do not let them tailler for water.
