in lu SECOND EDITION ROBBED ON THE TRAIN Proceedings ol the Baltimore Synod Session. AN EARTHQUAKE IN KANSAS. A G UK AT STRIKE. A Gold Find In tl»e Organ Mountains That Groat«» Much Kaciteineut. flfadley*» Pointer». 3 The $60 pl«*ce of free gold ore, sent, from the new discovery, the Copper Duke in the On/an mountain*, is the object of more ad miral ton than any other late acquisitions to the display at Denver. The piece is not larger than oue'» liât, and the large nuggets and w ires of gold appear throughout the mass. The gangue is of decomposed quartz aud Irou, and of entirely dltlercnt appear ance from auv other gold ore» we have ever teen in New Mexico. We regard this strike iu the Organs as great iu importance as any thing in the way of new discoveries that has been made in the past year in the territory. This, with the wide enthusiasm which has been aroused by the rich developments in the Perche districts, Is sending large liuiuliers of people into the almost unin habited mountain portions. They naturally ray that if the precious metals have been ac cidentally discovered iu already then* must be only a beginning, and equally valuable discoveries may be made by any one who makes the search. The possibilities of wealth In the mountains of New Mexico have never been half shown. We have called these men fanatics, who, three years ago, predicted even less develop ment thuu is Lo day accomplished. Ill the future we shall adtipt the prognostications of the most saguiuc. —The United States and Mcxlc «»wus six mines very near this rich strike. The ores now on exhibition at the company's office, Seventh and Shipley streets arc of tin* same foimatiou iu every respect. There is no doubt that a rich surprise awaits a development of the claims.
