That Ohanom to be Brlchtealnc. rCorreiprmdenra Phlla. Tum!«.] Columbus, Sept. 5.-— If the confidence which both parties feel of success In the present Gubernatorial campaign may be measured by lbelr earnestness, political hopes have never mounted higher. The ilval committees have been actively at work for a month and every mall which leaves this city bears great quantities o( campaign During the past week the Show llemooratlo document«. _ .... _■_ Democratic executive cwntolttee has «ent out. close to 100,000 pamphlets on the wool tarill question and it 1« probable that many more, either of the same document or of new ones on the «aine subject, will fol low as rapidly as clerical facilities will per mit and names of Republican farmers received at headquarters. It Is noticeable, however, that party con fidence finds very little expression, except on the part of the Cincinnati Republican press. Both committees remarkably silent and have yet uiudc no official claims, while the individual commltteeineu, when they allow themselves to speak, take care to back up their assertions with a sufficiency of ifs. The absence of extravagance is an usual and agreeable feature of Ohio cam paigns. There is a disposition to let prob abilities alone and to make energetic work the sole expression of political wishes and anticipations. un T HK GERMAN VOTE STICKING. A w ek ago the outlook from a Démo cratie point seemed in the highest degree discouraging. Ttc number of respectable names connected with the organized move ment lor a third local ticket earrled the con viction that nothing but disruption was pos sible In Cincinnati; and when it was an nounced that an indc|K'ndent emocratic ticket would surely be placed in the field the most hopeful friends of Judge Hoadly could not conceal their diBhearteument. three days, how ever, it has become certain that the regular Democratic ticket is so strong with the Ger mans ami it* backers so powerful thatauew ticket, however judiciously made up and well endorsed, can have no prospect what ever and will, indeed, receive but very feeble support. It is believed that many of the leaders of the bolt have reconsidered their action and will, when the time comes to make up the proposed new ticket, indorse the regular nominees. The Duckworth Club, a Democratic organization composed of the most influential members of the party, and the Jeflorson Club, composed of the highly respectable and In dependent Democratic element, have given their unanimous support to the Highland House ticket. A Week ago it was expected that a great many members of the Duck worth Club would retire from the organiza tion in case it was determined to indorse Mc Lean's ticket, while the JeiTerson Club was said to be unanimous in favor of independ cut nominations. In Cleveiai d the outlook is said to be ex ceedingly bright for a great majority for Judge Hoadly. The local troubles which distress Cincinnati Democrats are not shared by their brothers on the lake; on the cou trtry, a perfect organization and a very strong local ticket give effective support to the Sf Ate candidates. At the same time the large German element will not listen to Re publican representations, but insists on standing by the Demoeratio party the same last year. Here in Columr us, the capital of the State, and a city which has the same doubtful status as Ciucii nati and Cleveland, I have talked with a great many Germans pbatic In opi>osition Within the last two and find them very to Mr. Foraker. The sick of Judge Hoadly is exceed ingly unfortunate at the present time. There is n*»thing so necessary to Democratic suç as Judge Hoadly's personal presence iu the canvass. He is universally popular aDd 'he most effective speaker that, we have in Ohio. His absence is 6ure to be mlscon strued. 1 believe, however, that he will be perfectly restored by the middle of the month, when vigorous work during the re mainder ot thu campaign will make up for the short time that he may lose. KXWIKSSMKN MAItl.K. IVIr A. S. Merrill, the popular expressman of Brunswick, Mo , writes us on May 16, 1883, as follows: "Having been severely afflicted for about two years with inflammation of the kid neys and bladder, so called by my physlolans, 1 suttered wPh distressing pains In my back and retention of urine, caused by a stoppage of tho neck of tiio bladder and a com plication of other diseases. Having failed to obtain relief f orn my doctor, I finally consulted our druggist. Dr Merryman, of Brunswick, and requested him to tarnish me with the most re liable aud speedy eure for such sickness, fori wm guttering too much for human nature to en dure long. The doctor recommended me to Hunt's Remedy, us it had been used with remarkable success In a good many cases In Brunswick and vicinity. 1 purchased a bottle, and received such great relief that 1 continued, and bad not used two bottles before I began to improve beyond my expectations The pains in my kidneys aud loins disappeared, 1 re gained strength, and my water began to pass naturally, and 1 was able to sleep soundly, aud obtain the greatly needed rest which for a long time I could not. 1 restored to health, aud fully att ud to u:y busl .
