Tli® Water Department not to Blame for
Tatnall Street.
Yesterday'» Trouble
An injustice was done the employes ol the
Water Department in yesterday's article in
the Gazette headed "A Carless Habit. " It
appears that the trouble was caused in
a manner that leaves all parties connected
blameless. The d fliculty occurred in
this way. The pipes in the residence
of James A. Caspersoo, 837 Tatnali 6treot,
were out of order, and the plumbers to
make the necessary repairs, were compelled
to stop of the water at the stop on that
premises. Unfortunately the houses in that
bloek were built before the street main was
extended down Tatnall and asacousequcnc«
a small pipe was run to supply these dwell

Sheridan Coming.
W. E. Sheridan, the eminent actor, will
appear at the Grand Opera House,on Thurs
day and Friday eYcniugs next, in "Louis
XI," and "King Lear." Of his conception
of the former the Philadelphia Telegraph
eays: "The impersonation is substantially
what it was when the actor achieved such
signal success with it at the Chestnut Street
Theatre several seasons ago, although it has
been polished and improved iu a number of
particulars, and it is now a most interest
ing aud entirely artistic presentation of
one of the most singular men ot French
history. Mr. Sheridau represents the craft,
the low cunning, the superstition, and tte
personal cowardice of Louia with wonder
fully tine effect, while at the same time
skillfully keeping the idea of kingship iu
full view. Mr. Sheridan will repeat this
character to-night, aud no lover of tine act
ing should omit seeing him in it."
•Squire O'Neill's Court.
At last evening's session of 'Squfre
O'Neill's police court Robert Jones, colored,
was committed to New Castle for 10 days
as a vagrant and Anna Baldwin was fined
$2 and costs for being drunk and disorderly.
At this morning's hearing three drunks
paid the usual penalty in such case made
and provided.
