The holder* of certificates under the Conveptioo
with the Republic of Mexico, will, on the presentation
of their respective certificates at the Bank of
the Metropolis, on or after the 27th day of October
instant, receive their proportions of the first instalment
and interest paid by Mexico, after deducting
expenses of transmission and insurance of the
j funds to the United States. The amount to be
distributed is 1136,555 01, and is equivalent to
six 87225-100000 per cent, on the respective awards.

PROPOSALS FOR RATIONS.
Head Quarters of the Marine Cores, I
Washington, October, 1843.
OEPARATE proposals will be received at the ofO
fice of the Quartermaster of the Marine Corps, in
this City, until ten o'clock, a. m., on Monday, the j
S| 13th November next, for furnishing rations to the
k United States Marines at the following stations for
i the year 1844, viz :
Portsmouth, New Hampshire ;
Charlestown, Massachusetts ;
Brooklyn, Long Island, and the City of New
York ;
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;
Gosport, near Norfolk, Virginia ;
Penaacola, Florida; and
Wa-hington, District of Columbia. I
The rations to consist of one pound and a quarter i
of fresh beef, or three quarters of a pound of mess |
j pork ; eighteen ounces of bread or flour, ut the op- i
> lion of the Government; and at the rate of six pounds
of good clean coffee, 12 pounds of good New Orleans i
sugar, eight quarts of h'earis, four quarts of vinegar, I
| two quarts ol salt, four pounds of soap, and one and |
a half pounds of good dipped candles to each hun- |
' dred rations. i
It is understood that the full side of beef (neck and
shins excluded) be delivered if required; if such i
quantity be not required, that the fore and hind quar- 1
teis be delivered alternately ; and the bread or flour
shall be of siqierfine quality. All the articles to be j
unexceptionable, and to be issued to the troops w ith- I 1
out expense to the United States. I i
