ant, n married woman residing in the county
and State aforesaid, intends carrying on busi
ness in her own name, according to an act ol
the Legislature passed April 12, 1852, entitled
“an act authorising married women to transact

tiou issued out of the District Court for the
9lh Judicial District, for Shasta county and State
of California, duly attested on the 13th day of
December, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, on
a judgment at the suit of D. D. Harrill as Public
Administrator of Shasta County,vs. J. F. Ankeny,
tor the sum of eighteen hundred and seventy
two dollars ($1872) debt, and ninety-five dol
lars and fifty cents ($95 50,) his costs and mon
ies! disbursements oh that suit expended, as up
jiears by record, and accruing coats, 1 have
seized and taken in execution the following
property to wit.; The mortgaged premises con
tained in the decretal order of said court for
foreclosing said mortgage, described as follows:
one half of two certain quarter sections of land
located on both sides of the Sacramento river,
at a point where Potters Ferry was formerly lo
cated, one quarter section of said land lying on
each side ot said river, in the county of Shasta
and State aforesaid, I hereby give notice, accor
ding to law, that I shall expose to public sale the
above described property to the highest bidder
for cash, on Saturday, the 21st day of .lunnary,
1854, at 12 o’clock M..on the premises.

$728.76, also on a judgment at the suit of Isaac
Philips vs. A. G. Chauucey, Austin Chaucey,

$893,62, together with accruing costs. 1 have
seized and taken into execution the following
property to wit; all that tract of land known
and described as follows; beginning at an oak
tree standing on the west bank of the Sacra
mento river, 18 rods above the month of Spring
creek, in the county of Shasta, marked and
bearing the names A. G. Chauncey and J L. H.
Swineford ; running from thence down tin* Sac
ramento river 120 rods to a pine tr- e marked
and bearing the names aforesaid ; from ihenco
in a westerly course 150 rods to a pine tree
marked as aforesaid; thence in a north easterly
course 120 rods to an oak tree marked as afore
said ; from thence in a south easterly course to
corner on Sacramento river, place of beginning,
together with all the improvements situated
thereon aud appurtenances belonging thereunto,
consisting of one saw mill aud its fixtures,
two dwelling houses, one barn and stable, situ
ated at the mouth of Spring Creek on the Sac
ramento river in said county of Shasta, all of
which described property I shall expose at pub
lic sale to the highest bidder for cash, on the 261 b
day of December, 1853, at 11 o’clock A. W., on

Whereas the above named complainant hath
by her guardian, JacobC. Hinckley, tiled in the
office of the undersigned, Clerk of the court afore
said. her complaint against you tor the object id'
obtaining a Divorce from the Bonds of matri
mony with you contracted, alleging for cause
against you, fraud, habitual intemperance and
wilful desertion for a period of two years. &»•-
And the said complainant having obtained from
the Judge of the Court aforesaid, an order that
the summons herein be served upon you bv
publishing the same for a period of three months
in the newspaper known a* the “ Shasta Cou
rier,” you are therefore required to appear and
answer said complaint within the time that fol
lows after the expiration of the three months pule
lications of summons aforesaid, viz:
If served within the County of Shasta, ten
days; if served out of Shasta County, but within
the Ninth Judicial District of the State aforesaid,
twenty days; in all other cases, forty days ; and
if you fail to answer the complaint as aforesaid,
the plaintiff and complainant aforesaid will ap
ply to the court for the relief demanded therein.
