6 DEC. 16 LIMIT OK TRAININGPLESS A warning has been issued to for mer service men and women through out the United States by Joe Sparks, chairman of the national rehabilita tion committee o£ the American Le gion, that all veterans who desire vo vational training and have not made application must do so under the pres ent law before Dec. 16, 1922. Those who wait until after tins date will forfeit their right of receiving this Government training. There are several ways in which this application can be made. The claimant may make application by writing a letter expressing a desire to apply for voca tional work to any one of the bureau offices located throughout the United States. It is necessary for the appil cant to sign his name so that the bu reau may consider the application as made by the man himself. It is ad visable for the applicant to make his application in person at one of the district or sub-district offices of the United States Veterans' Bureau, al though this is not absolutely neces sary. Forms may be otaired at any one of rhe bureau offices or from any of th • •••-operating agencies sue! as ik • American Legion, lhe lied ' toss : other veteran organizations. These forms should be filled out. signed forwarded to one of the veteran bureau offices. If a person is so situated that he is unable to obtain one of these forms, a letter will be accepted as an application. Where the postmark of such letter or the form shows that it was made on or before Deo. 16. the application will be considered as where the man enters the office before the close of the working day on Dec. 15. Applica tions mailed later than this date will be too late. COUNSELS CUT 3,OWE PARK One of the recommendations for ex tension of the city park and boule vard system which George E. Kessler, landscape architect and park expert cf St. Louis, will make to the city board of park commissioners in a few weeks will be that a 3.000-acre natural park be bought northeast of the city. Kessler indicated this In a discus sion with the board. The tract he will suggest is reavily wooded and hilly. It is drained by Mud and Fall creeks north of Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Kessler said it would be as useful as the State parks at the Shades of Death or Turkey Run for persons who want to get away from the heat and grime of the city for a day. night or week end.
