Motorists Urged to Tune Up
Lamps for Spring
Driving.
Nobody will know how many auto
mobile headlights are out of focus
until they have been pushed back
Into normal positions again.
This is the conclusion reached by
Todd Stoops, secretary-manager of
the Hoosier Motor Club, following a
study of the causes of glaring head
lights. Stoops cites mishandling of
cars in garages ns a conspicuous
cause of wild headlights.
“Owners do not realize the effect
of winter storage upon headlight ad
justment,’’ he explains. “Cars are l
jammed into the public garages and
are pushed about in a way that is
virtually necessary under the circum
stances. For some odd reason, how
ever, many garage people and motor
ists prefer to pick out the headlights
as the proper part of the car’s anat
omy to take hold of when pushing.
Naturally this throws the lights out
of focus.
“Rules for focusing headlights as
used by the American Automobile
Association and this club stress the
importance of the position of ,the
headlamps themselves. It Is possible
to have a bulb of the correct candle
power and focus, a lens of the ap-
