MURDER OWNER

Assassins Slay Chicagoan
in Argument Over New
Booze Syndicate.

CHICAGO, Dec. 17.—Machine gun
assassins killed John Rinella, 30,
suburban roadhouse owner, Friday
alter an argument over his refusal
to deal with anew and x mysterious
liquor syndicate which has sprung
up in opposition to the remnants
of Al Capone's gang.
Rinella was found sprawled be
hind the bareof the club, a west
side suburban roadhouse which he
acquired two months ago, by Miss
Marie Flack, who described herself
as his sweetheart. His body was
riddled with bullets.
Miss Flack declared the slayers
were two men, 28 or 30 years old,
and told a story indicating a newly
formed liquor syndicate was making
a ruthless bid for power.
“I was with Rinella early this
morning when two men came in and
started an argument,” she said.

Bondsman Decides to Quit
Sparring With Law in
Police Case.
Discretion is the better part of
valor, Eli. Gmil, professional bonds
man, proved Friday, when he was
brought to trial In municipal court
on a # charge of failure to pay a
police “bill” for overtime parking.
Gmil’s valor first came to the
surface several days ago, when Re
apparently disregarded, a summons
to traffic headquarters to pay for a
sticker.
As time passed and Gmil’s pres
ence was missed in the halls of
police headquarters, search was
started by police. Soon after,
Gmil was arrested and ordered to
face trial.
Gmil’s valor still persisted
facing Municipal Judge Clifton R.
Cameron last week, he asked for a
change of venue to another judge.

ficial records to prove it.
In looking through old court re
cords. Sone discovered a document
yellowed with age. which showed
how- his own great-great-grand
father, Michael Sone. sued one John
G. Heath on account.
The suit was filed Sept. 21, 1820,
and asked payment for the follow
ing items, among other things:
Supper, breakfast, lodging and two

Michael Sone was born Aug. 31,
1776. He operated an inn known
as Sone’s tavern, a few miles west

White House Has No Plans
for Conference With
President-Elect.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 17.—The
White House officially announced
Friday that President Herbert Hoo
ver has no plans whatsoever for an
other conference with President-
Elect Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The announcement was a denial
of reports that the chief executive
was considering turning again to
his successor for counsel on the
methods of procedure on war debts
between now and March 4.
The reports came to the atten
tion of the President, it was under
stood. and a White House secretary
forthwith flatly denied any such
meeting was under consideration.
"The President is not contem
plating any such action,” the sec
retary declared. "No such confer
ence is being considered.”
