By Scrippg-Zfownrd Xricspaiter Alliance SPOTSYLVANIA COURTHOUSE. Va., Jan. 13.—The commonwealth of Virginia today owns about 20 per cent of all the land in this county, after a depression delinquent tax sale. Farmers came to the sale, listened to the auctioneer, but bid in only fourteen parcels out of 698 sold for unpaid taxes. The other 685 were turned over to the state comptroller when there were no bidders. Delinquent owners let their prop erty go for failure to pay taxes amounting to as little as 30 to 35 cents an acre. Small parcels were knocked down for as little as a few cents more than a dollar. A small crowd of farmers lounged in the courthouse, talking and pay ing little attention to the auc tioneer, M. B. Kinsey, as he hurried through the long list of delinquent owners and acreages. The total sold was 133 acres. At the end of the sale Kinsey re minded the spectators that owners could get their titles back by pay ing delinquent taxes, plus penalties. These penalties are 10 per cent premium, 6 per cent interest, a 50- cent fee to the county treasurer for each tract and 19 cents for adver tising. Meanwhile, owners of property turned over to the comptroller are safe in the occupancy of their homes for two years, during which they may make the back payments and reclaim their titles. Those whose land was bought by private purchasers might be given sixty days’ notice to vacate, but this is not usually done. Many of the smaller tracts have been abandoned, according to coun ty officials. Their unemployed owners have left the county seek ing employment elsewhere. Manufacturers of incandescent lamps turn out approximately 3,000 kinds, including many unusual de signs made only on special order. Hemorrhoids Go Quick All Pile Misery Ended Without Cutting or Salves. Thousands ■who have piles have pot yet learned that quick and lasting re lief can only be accomplished with an internal medicine. Neither salves nor suppositories remove the cause. Bad circulation of blood in the low er bowel causes piles. The hemorrhoid al veins are flabby, the bowel walls weak —the parts almost dead. To get rid of Biles an internal medicine must be used to stimulate the circulation, drive out the thick impure blood, heal and restore the affected parts. l>r. ,7. S. Leonhardti after years of study, found a real internal Pile rem edy. He called his discovery 7IE.M- T7OID, and prescribed it for 1.000 pa tients with success in over 000 eases, and then decided every Pile sufferer, no matter how stubborn their case, might try his prescription with a money back guarantee. HEM-UOin tablets have such a won derful record of success that Hook's Dependable Drug Stores and all good druggists invite you to try HEM-KOID and guarantee money refunded if it does not end your Pile misery.—Ailver t isemont.
