Mc- Nutt today was accused of having lost 121,059 Democratic votes from 1932 to 1934. The statement was made by James E. Deery, Indianapolis city corpora tion counsel, last night before the McKinney-for-Governor Club of Evansville. “There is no use closing our eyes to figures. We cast 121,059 less votes in 1934 than we did in 1932. while the Republicans increased their vote for secretary of state, 20,827,’’ he said. “In 1934, the popularity of Presi dent Roosevelt resulted in a land slide in most states. The people demonstrated they had not lost confidence in our President. But for some reason or another Indiana got out of step with the rest of the nation. “What is the cause? I don't know. Pleas Greenlee says that It is too much ’McHale-ism’, and Pleas ought to know, for he held a position in the Statehouse and was in touch with all that was gc*ng on as pat ronage secretary for more than three years.” He forecast that the 1936 election would be decided in Marion and Vanderburgh Counties.
