Thir d-To build, own and rent and operate shipyards, docks, pier, wharvcs and warehouses for the transnr.tion of their business. - Fourth-To trade with foreign countries, including the foreign pos sessios of the United States, by es porting cargo carried thereto in their vessels, and to import from foreign countries, including the foreign pos sessions of the United States, in their own vessels cargo for sale or as change in the United States, but no ship or such company shall be laden with tl'e company's cargo to the e' clusion of cargo offered for such voy age by the general public, and such cargo offered by the" general public shall have preference on all voyagos for which it is offered. Fifth-To authorize corporations, foreign and domestic, to subscribe to and own shares of their capital stock, not however in excess of the limitation above provided. No ,eased property or chartered ship shall be within the exemption herein granted, nor shall vessels of such corporations operated in the coasting trade of the United Stata;. or operated between ports of the United States, other than Louisiana ports, and foreign countries, not in cluding the foreign possessions of the anited States, be within the eY emiptin herein granted.
