It is our painful duty to announce the death of the
Honorable Bennett rAmakeha, who expired at his resi
ienoe in Puoa Valley on the morning of the 27th inst.
of dropsy- The deceased was the son of Kamanna, de
fended from the ancient Kings of the northern dis
tricts of Hawaii, and of Kukaeleiki, a Chieftainess of
b'rh rank from the island of Kauai, and he was a
brother of the late Honorable George Nae, and there
fore an uncle of Her Majesty the Queen. At the time
of bit death he was about sixty-two years of age. For
long number of years he had been a member of the
Hoese of obles and or the Privy Council of 8tate, and
for a considerable time he acted as Governor of the
island of MauL The funeral was to have taken place
yesterday afternoon, and the coffin deposited in the
Boval Cemetery, but on account of the weather beinz

the fine building which for some months past haa been in process
of erection for this institution, ia now completed, and will soon
be ready for the reception of patient. It, however, needs fur.

cup and saucers, etc. Her Majesty the Queen la about to hold
a Fair for this especial purpose, but a it is supposed there mty
be some who would fed it a privilege to contribute to this noble
charity, useful and serviceable articles which they would not
think it best to tend in to the Fair, I am instructed by the Exec

may think proper, to Mrs. Austin, (occupying the house of Gen.
Miller,) who has kindly consented to act as depositary for this
purpose. Sheet, pillow cases, spreads, bedding, netting, etc.,
