Waimea- The Canyon, won
derful scenic masterpiece, easily
accessible on horseback.
The Olokele Ditch, great en
gineering feat amid cliffs and crags
of exquisite beauty, accessible by
carriage. The Russian Fort, on
the bluff overlooking the harbor,
an interesting relic. The Hana
pepe Falls, "Manawaiopuna," at
the head of the Hanapepe canyon
carriages go half-way, thence by

Barking Sands at Nohili, an in
teresting freak of nature, excellent
roads for carriage.
The Marine Drive, Boating on
the Wailua river.

coloring in the world. Hawaiian
scenery includes all the colors of
the rainbow, and the rainbow as

To Mrs. Hans Isenberg much
credit is due for the various de
lightful trees which were given in
this vicinity as through her gene
rousily, sixteen beautiful trees of
a certain Japanese specie were pre
sented to as many families
The Lihue Ice Works through
Manager Hills, dealt out a case of
its delicious mixed sodas to its
customers, as a Christmas gift.
The appropriateness of the occa
sion made the remembrance high
ly appreciative.
Miss Schimmelpfenig, daughter
of Second District Magistrate Wm.
Schimmelpfenig of Koloa, and a
student of the Honolulu Normal
school, came up last Wednesday
for her Christinas holidays.
Hon. and Mrs. A. S. Wilcox,
returned Wednesday from a brief
shopping tour in the metropolis.
K. Melanphy was an incoming
passenger on Wednesday's Mauna
loa. Hon. G. N. Wilcox returned
from a brief visit to Honolulu last
Wednesday.
According to correspondence
from Washington, President Taft
was too busy to see Kuhio when
he called.
Attorney Milvertou says the city
of Honolulu is unable 'to increase
its taxes even under urgent neces
sity. Several society ladies have
planned a dance in honor of Mrs.
Kric Knudsen of Kauai, who is
here for a short time,
The dance will be given at the
Country Club Thursday evening,
December 27.
