He hns not admitted having killed Oda or shooting Fujikawa but he has confessed his complicity In three robberies and one shooting affair. It was not until after four or Ave of his victims had Identified him positively as being one of the men who had robbed them that the Chinese weakened and admitted his guilt. She identi fied Chew Hoy as the man. . She look ed at the other members of the gang In the different cells In the police station but could not positively Identify them. But there was absolutely no question regarding her Identification of Chew Hoy who is thought by the police to be the murderer of Oda last Friday on the Moanalua road, i Mrs. Hagen said that she had good reason to remember Chew. He was the man who had sat upon her and held her down on the lloor while the other CUNHA TALKS IN COUNCIL E. S. Cunha attended the meeting' of the Executive Council this morning and gave a talk on the subject of liquor licenses and regula tions. Cunha has acquired the Union Grill and wants his license amended so that he may serve liquor tliefe to guests, and this was the occasion of his visit, but while the subject was open he tegistered a kick generally against illegal competition. Cunha told the governor and his advisors that practically all of the cheap-licensed beer saloons were selling whiskey and other drinks in competition with him, while he paid the $1,000 license. The whole salers also were violating the laws, said Cunha. They sold- liquor of many kinds practically at retail, thus competing under wholesale licenses with men who were paying $1,000 a year. Cunha said that in his restaurant place he intended to serve guests with liquor, and that it would be an accommodation to the community generallv as well as to visitors. Under the law at present the Grill can not serve liquors except by getting them for the customers'' from the saloon adjoining. The new license would enable the restaurant to serve its own customers on its own hook, extending Cunha's license to in clude the restaurant. The Council referred the matter to the governor and attorney gen eral, who will settle the legal end of the question. The weather was so pleasant and the sea so calm, that Captnln Cutler got In a small boat and went over to the French vessel. Every thing was reported well with the foreign crew. In addition to providing the French man with the chart, Captain Cutler gave him some potatoes and onions, which were probably far more wel come than was the chart Important as , It was to the French boat.
