The Jap claims to have had proper lights burning and says that at about 2 o'clock on the morning of August 28 the Concord, in command of J. M. Moses ran into him. His boat was split and himself and all tho contents . were thrown Into tho sea. All the contents were lost and ho received severe injuries. The plaintiff claims losses of $386.30 and says that all the Concord's owners have offered to pay him is $25. J. J. Dunne Is attorney for tho llbcl lant. Nows of tho death of Hetnrlch Alex ander Isenberg In New York yesterday at 6 p. m. was received iby cable last night. Pneumonia was the cause of death. Although his death had been expected, Still the news of his demise caused a shock to tho entire community for the late Mr. Isenberg was a man of prominence In social as well as commercial affairs of these Islands. As tho vice-president nnd managing di rector of the firm of II. Hackfeld and Company ho was an especially power ful factor in the development of the af fairs of tho Hawaiian Islands. The last Illness of tho late Mr. Isen berg was of very short duration. Ho was sick only six days. While no posi tive news on tho subject has been re ceived, It Is thought by friends hero that ho contracted his last Illness while on tho steamship bound from Europe to New York. In company with his wife and their two children he had arrived at New York the early part of last week. On Thursday camo a cablegram apprising II. Hackfeld and Company that he was 111 with pneumonia as was 4--4-4-"t- -4-4-- 4 Chamber Commerce Has Acted MEETS THIS MORNING AND TAKES APPROPRIATE ACTION ON DEATH OF H. A. ISENBERG. A hastily called meeting of tho Cham ber of Commerce was held at. 11 o'clock this morning in tho rooms of tho Chamber, to take appropriate action in relation to the death .of II. A. Isenberg, a former President of tho Chamber. President F. J. Lowrey, presided. There were a number of brief memorial addresses made. F. M. Swanzy in stat ing the purpose of calling the meeting, paid a most eloquent trlbuto to tho deceased. Among those who heard It were some .who said It was tho most eloquent address on an occasion of the kind, they had ever heard. A committee of which F. M. Swanzy Is chairman was appointed to draft a letter to be sent to II. Hackfeld & Company, expressing tho sentiments of tho Chamber In the loss of Mr. Isen berg, the head of II. Hackfeld & Com pany. Tills committee Is also to send n letter to tho widow and family. Another committee of which L. Tcn noy Peck Is chairman was appointed to confer with a similar committee from tho Merchants' Association to draft .suitable memorial resolutions expres sive of the sentiments of the commer cial community. President F. J. Lowrey was appoint ed a committee to confer with the family and II. Hackfeld & Company relative to setting apart a day for the general closing of houses of business, Tho day will probably bo tho ono on which funernl services nro held, whe ther the remolns,are brought here for Interment or taken to Bremen. Early; lost night came the last cablegram an nouncing his death. Mrs. Isenberg; and tho children wero evidently with him when he died and It is thought that Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Cooko wero there also ns they aro known to havo been In Now York yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Isenberg wero about to return to Ho nolulu when ho was stricken with his fntol illness. Tho deceased was a native of tho Hawaiian Islands, having been born at Llhue, Kauai on January 17, 1872. Ilia father was tho lato Hon. Paul Isenberg" and one of tho early capitalists to develope the Hawaiian Islands. Paul Isenberg died In Germany at Bremen in 1903. Governor Carter this morning ex pressed his sense of bereavement, In the death' of II.' A. Isonberg. The latter was a personal friend of the governor, and Mrg. Isenberg and Mrs. Carter wero also close friends. Tho two fami lies had planned a tour of Europe to gether. At the time of Carter's pro posed resignation, the first resident of Hawaii to cable from abroad asking; him to retain the olllce was II. A. Isen berg. "I feel very keenly tho personal loss as well as the loss to the community, In the death of Mr. Isenberg," tho gov ernor said. "With Mrs. Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Isenberg and myself had talk ed over and planned making together the trip which he has been making. We hoped some day in the not distant fu ture to do some touring of Europe In company, and were all lodklng forward to it. We had discussed taking in the Alps, tho Swiss lakes, the Black forest, and other places, and Mr. Isenberg had pointed out that he could gain ontrance for us, through his German connections, to parts of the Black Forest not gen erally open to visitors. Since they be gan thejr journey thnt has ended so unfortunntely, Mr. and Mrs. Isenberg have constantly sent us postals ns they went from place to place." , Tho governor paid a high tribute to the personal character of his deceased friend.
