M. C. A. tho Whites won the championship of the indoor baseball series. Last night's gamo was one of the most in teresting of tho series, it was also tho most exciting, for nt the end of the eighth inning the Bines led by six to five. When the Whites pitched up live runs in the first of the ninth, their supporters roared themselves hoarse, but the Blue added three runs to their total with two men down, and still had a man on second. Tho game was not all over by any means, thought the Blues, but when the runner at tempted to steal third and knocked 'third baseman over just as ho caught the ball, Dr. Hand held that tho vun. nor was out and that slide decided tho match and the championship. The Blues were thought to have a mort gage on the championship at one time, but the Whites came along well to wards the finish and onco in the lead never looked back again. The winning aggregation comprises Lewis, Cannon, L. linger, Ferrclrn, Clark, Marina, Baseman and Nott. SPORT NOTES. Alfred D. Cooper, Frank L. Hoogs and Miss Gohlie Gurney comprise a committee which has been appointed to take the necessary steps towards securing an athletic field for tho Mc Kinley High School. In furtherance of this object a meeting of all Inter ested in the proposal will be held in the school building on Tuesday next. Tomorrow afternoon the Knmeha meha association football team will try conclusions with the Malles on tho Kams ground. The match will be the first encounter of any note of the sea son and how the Malles shape against the Kamehameha will give the fans a lino on their chances in the Hawaiian Football League, the first game in which is scheduled for the 17th inst. WOLGAST TO FIGHT MORAN. Newspaper criticism is evidently having its effect upon Ad Wolgast. The lightweight champion while still insisting upon a guaranty of $12, G00 for his end, now announces that he will be ready to fight Moran on Washington's birthday over the forty-five-round limit. Also it Is worthy of notice that Wolgast has nothing to say about naming the referee all by himself. The guranty, of course, is out of the question, and, although Wolgast may not understand condi tions, it would be unwise for any pro moter to attempt the forty-five-round game as matters stand. KiLLY TO MEET I. ANGFORD. DETROIT (Mich.), December 2. Hugo Kelly, through his manager, has arranged the preliminaries for a fight with Sam Langford in Los An geles January 12th. It will be for twenty rounds. Langford's manager in California wired the terms under which the black pugilist would fight, and Kelly acreed to them. Tho win ner will get 75 per cent of tho gate receipts. Kelly is appearing in a theater here. CHANGES TO FOOTBALL RULES. NEW YORK, December 2. George Foster Sanford, the veteran Yale athletic adviser, who had a good deal to do with building up this year's Yale eleven, is convinced that tho football rules committee has much work to do before another season rolls around If the needs of the game arc to be considered. In his opinion some changes in the code are absolutely es sential. Mr. Sanford will sail for Europe tomorrow. "I am outstandingly opposed to tho forward pass over the line of scrim- j mage," he said. "The most important change which I would recommend is 1 that the distance to bo gained by rushing be reduced from ten yards to seven yards. I also think that tho runner should be allowed to 'tack on' j to ono player in hitting the line in order to equalize to some extent the attack with the defense. The objection to pushing and pulling because of the , liability to injure would not hold in the case. On the other hand, it will i really make play safer by providing some protection to the man carrying the ball from the shock of a tackle in the secondary line of defense. "The reduction of ground to be gained by rushing will make possible a reasonable reward for rushing and thus restore ono of the basic principles of tho American college gamo." WONDERFUL TOYS.
