Ho is getting fat and lazy through taking Httle or no walking ex ercise and wants an excuse for getting on his legs again. He is rowing, reg ularly, it is true, but that helps the arms and tho trunk rather than tho legs. Sullivan won the first two Kalakaua avenue walking races held. He did not tako part in tho third, held last December, and won by Anton Kaoo. His last appearanco on the track was on Decoration Day of 1900, when ho walked a mile dead hoat In the mud at the old ball park with H. M. Ayres In 8:37Vj. Sullivan would like to hoar from any aspiring walkers and thinks that per haps Fitzgerald, Soldier King, tho mysterious Zlnk or Nlgol Jackson mm ii ! might like to take him on In a short or long distance hike. 1 The fourth Kalakaua avenue walk- j lug race will take place about four months from now, and a race or two in tho meantime would buck mattors up In the toe-nnd-hcel lino consider- ably. TALK AMONG THE 1ESTLERS John Froellchor, seen this morning by a Star man with regard to the possibility of a match with Sailor Roberts said: "I don't claim tho wrestling cham pionship of Hawaii, and never did. In my matches hero I have gone on the mat for the sport of the thing and to give the public their money's worth. "If Roberts wants to claim the championship, he may do so as far as I am concerned. It's funny that a champion won't tako a good man on who drops Into his town, however; say, for instance, Bert Warner or Joe Thomas, as ho wos called. There is nothing to stop that kind of a cham pion being champion for a hundred years if lie wants to. "I will wrestle Roberts when I feel ready, and that will be Inside of two months. I am too busy now with my work and can't afford to lay off for training, as my Job is worth more than any wrestling game. "I knew Joe Thomas well, and have trained and worked with him as long ns two months at a stretch. He Is a good man, and while I am better than him on my legs, he is too good for mo on the mat. He has wrestled all over the North and Middle West un der the names of Bert Warner, Billy Maynard and Bert Schorr." KAUAI LEAGUE. G. W. L.
