Is the query which hovers on the pretty rose-tinted lips of the autumn bride. Her friends are individually and collectively asking each other what is expedient to send her. What they nro expected to dispatch In a hurly-burly disguise of cardboard, tlssuo paper, satin ribbons and cards, the nature of whoso final revelation will not cause a panic of disappointment when compared with the dozens of other gifts arrived that day, all of a similar character! The question of Uie bridal trousseau is determined by the personal taste and requirements of the bride. It may be sovereiv simple In detail and characterized by a limited num ber of sets, or it may expand according to expenditure and the iopularlty of the recipient into an almost Incredible catalogue of sartorial embellishments. Undoubtedly the most extrnvngant treousseau ever packed Into six great traveling trunks by any daughter of Hawaii is that wJilch .Miss Anna Rose is displaying for the pleasure of her most privileged friends. It is sprawled artistically and arranged methodically in turn through the various rooms which lie soft and still amid their ravishing effeminacy, or which are vibrant with the occasional thrilling whispers of exultation and admiration of innumerable daily callers. "Have you seen It?" ' Tho question is racing with curiosity through the entiro community. Roports of it which are highly colored with exaggeration are flying like winged messengers among those whoso memory runs amuck with their sense of veracity. And for thoso who yearn for some degree of accuracy Lady Gay has chron icled a personal Inspection and will present a catalogue for the edification of future dubious brides! The trousseau, pronounced by many who have seen bridal wardrobes from Agra to New York to be the most wonderful they have ever beheld, lies in an atmosphere of the never-fading roses which aro dally being sent by the bride's most Intimate friends.
