phase of extravagance. The auction people, for
instance, so habitually pile on the agony of the
adjectives to work off poor stuff, that when they
have something really good to sell the bow snap
and language fails them.
A serious etiargo has been brought against a
school teacher in Illinois, the specifications of
which arc: Immoraility ! 2. Parsbality !
3. Keeping disordly schoal ! Carrying unlafle
wepings!" The Committeeman who wrote the
charge thinks of running the school himself next
quarter.
Subciucnt explanations are sometimes very
troublesome. In Reading, Pa., a few days ago,
a man's life was saved by the ball from a pistol,

In a country school noar Portland, Maine, a
