C0MPUMEN1S AND OTHER COMMENTS rom Esteemed Exchanges Concerning the "Western Kansas World." HE STOOD BY WESTERN KANSAS. The Wa-Keeney Wored has broken loose and is astonishing its old friends by its increased dimensions and new cut of its garments. It is now a six column quarto, and has an engraved head (or two of them) with a changed name, the "Western Kansas World. Mr. Tilton, its publisher, is a live and talented jour nalist and keeps fully abreast with the progress of the times. He has done good work for his section of country, has stood by it valoiously during both prosperous and discouraging seasons, has always manifested a hopeful spirit and persist ently maintained that there was a grand future for western Kansas. He has fully earned all of the success he has achieved. Dodge City Cowboy. HOPE FOR 1T3 LONG LIFE AND PROSPERITY. The Wa-Keeney. World has been en larged to a sis column quarto, (8 pages) and has put on two big heads, just alike, each having little animals crawling all over it We never thought the World could be convinced that it needed any more head than what the editor wears, but perhaps the pictures are only used to make impressive the importance of the corporeal head. The name of the paper has also been changed to Wesern Kan sis World. In his comments the editor says that the change is "not because bus iness policy or duty to our people requires it, but to create a place whero we can be sure to find room to sink all the money which we are able to save from other sources." The World is one of our most valued exchanges, and we hope it may live long and prosper, and that it may get over its morbid attachment to what it calls 'Reimblicanisni." Kirwin Indc fendent. MAY THE WORLD CONTINUE TO REVOLVE. Hon. W. S. Tllton's paper, formerly known as tLo Wa-Keeney World, but , now having the cognomen Western Kan -' has World, came out last week with a double-header, having for its motto, "Stock Farming the Basis of our Indus tries." It i now a six column quarto, four pag-s being home print. Its head, which occurs tvice, is rather picturesque, representing on one side the cowboy branding his cattle, the shepherd yarding his sheep, and on the other the farmer harvesting, stacking and threshing his grain, with farm-houses located in arious parts of the picture. It has also a center picture, representing a bull's and ram's head, an ear of corn and the small cereals. Its heading is indicative of an agricul tural stock journal, but its leading editor ial says: "It does iiot abjure Eepublicau ism nor a tithing of it." Here's succesf, Brother Tilton. May the World con tinue fc: revolve. Xess City News. THE CORR VL OVER ON THE LEFT. Tilton. editor of the old Wa-Keeney World, has transmogrified that paper into a very handsome 8-page quarto sheet, six columns to the page, and put a new head on it so that now it appears as the Western Kansas World. The heading is an engraved affair, a sort of combina tion of agriculture, commerce, stock and horticulture, portraying at a glance the bent of the papor, as Tilton is determined to pay moie attention to such subjects than politics hereafter, although he does not eschew politics by any means he couldn't if he should try. In the heading of his paper wo can distinctly see Tilton himself, astride a bioucho which a Texas steer has paralyzed with a kick, and Tilt's que is circling up toward heaven, or the windmill in the distance, or the cabalistic T on tho right hip of a badly frightened critter over north it is hard to discover just which, while his Italian organist and frisky monkey are amusing the critters in the foreground. Perhaps we are oft in describing the corral over on the left, but our intention is crood nevertheless. Be- loit Courier. GETTING BEADY FOR THE BOOM.
