4i A OGAT.TiATT OOZINGS. Ooaelah, Trego Co., Sept 9. Miss Dray was visiting in the Palmer neighborhood last week. D. Countryman and wife visited the Ogallah Alliance last Thursday night. Mrs. J. P. Marquand has gone to Sal ina to visit her daughter, Mrs. H. M. Davidson. Nearly everybody in this community -will attend the Alliance meeting at Wa Iveeney Friday. Quite a number of our boys attended the ice cream social at I. L. McGarvie's last Friday. All report a good time. Fred Street was down to the Shaw ranch last week making hay, hunting jack rabbits and going to school. Repobtee. FAIEVIEWINGS. Faibview, September 10. School is in session. Mr. BeBt was in town Tuesday. Capt. Welch bought seed rje of Mr. Heed. The neighbors are hauling up their teed for winter. Mr. "Wolff is making hay at Mr. Fetz lofFs, on Big Creek. Cattle in this neighborhood are in fine 'Condition for the coming winter. Little Charley Bhoades was ill the fore part of the week, but is better now. Ajl worth and Rhine are doing most of the threshing in this vicinity this year. Miss Viola Welch expects to go to Em poria soon to take a course in the normal school. Mr. Beed finished threshing Tuesday. He sold some of his rye in Collyer for 75 cents per bushel, A. E. McCollnm and wife took 6npper with MisB Viola Welch last Tuesday evening, at her ranch. A young man was through the neigh borhood Monday wanting to buy two and three-year-old steers. Mies Viola Welch and sister, Florence, visited the Bchool in our district last Wednesday. Come again. Mr. Scanlon changed his cattle from Mr. Loder's to Thomas', on the Saline. Mr. Thomas will winter them. Mr. Wish and family, from Stockton, is visiting our neighbor, Mr. Wolff. Mr. Wish is a relative of the Wolff family. Dorns and Lahman threshed for Wm. Loder Saturday. Mr. L. has for the last three years been a partner with Aylworth and Bhine. They dissolved last sum mer. Our school commenced the first, with an enrollment of six and last Monday it -was increased to eight. Everything is moving along nicely under the guidance of A. E. McCollum, of Ogallah. Mrs. B. G. Kessler and Mrs. Burns are visiting friends in Gove county to-day. J. W. Hickman and Charles Long have gone on a hunting expedition this after noon. Mre. O. W. Brown starts to-night for a long visit to her mother's home in Ne braska. T. Pratt, of Musuem Grove, was in town this morning. Mr. Pratt is buying up young cattle. Mr. and Mrs. J. Kristof, of Oakley, were in town Saturday and Sunday, the guests of Mr. Charles Thiel. J. L.Bundy returned Thursday from Beverly, Kansas, where he has been at work for the past month. O. B. Kessler has returned from Wa Keeney. Ho will study in the telegraph office here for a short time. Charles Thiel gave a dinner Sunday in honor of the christening of his little daughter, Annie Elizabeth. R. Lahman, of Qumter, who was visit ing his brother the first of the week, start ed for Denver this morning. A. C. Lord and family will move to Wa-Keeney to-morrow. IT, B. Acre hav ing rented the building they were oc cupying. Messrs. Powers, Fike, Fonts, Lord and Hyerly were in Wa-Keeney Saturday. The Democratic convention was the at traction for part of them. Miss Delia Escher and Mr. Jennings, of Wa-Keeney. took a flying trip through the western part of the county Sunday. Mr. Jennings is buying cattle. Last Sunday Father Fogerty, of Ellis preached a very interesting sermon at the Catholic church, giving an outline of the Catholic creed for the benefit of the many protestants present Topst. Ives was not fairly nominated and that a correct counting of the votes will show him to be the choice of the convention. The surplus in the treasury is being rapidly paid out these days by a dozen pension agent to tens of thousands of veterans who will put it into circulation for the comforts of life. Leavenworth Times. According to a late department circular published this week it seems that 320 acres of government land is the limit and that one person cannot make entry of a pre-emption after acquiring title to a homestead and timber claim. The Alliance people had an immense gathering at the fair grounds in Hays City last Wednesday. 260 teams were in the line of procession headed by the Ellis brass band. Speeches were made bv Hon. Wm.
