OUR MARKET REPORT. are in such light sunolv that it is ! hard to establish a market on them. We look for fatted cows and heifers to command strong prices throughout this month, but think stock heifers will sell lower than they have this week and last, as strictly good ones are bringing 4. 50 to 75. which is the highest price they have brought' any time this year. We have bad liberal receipts of hogs for the past week and some de cline in prices during the time. The 42,000 at Chicago, Monday, and liberal receipts at Kansas City so far this week indicates that there is still a fair supply of Jiogs in t he country. We had a decline of 5 to 10 cents at this market on Monday: good hogs selling at the close at $3.60 to 65. The ex treme top for the day was $3.75 for choice heavy weights, and good light hogs sold at $3.56 to 60. S as is often the cause, the unexpect ed Happens the first of this week Receipts of cattle in Chicago on Mon day were 22,000 and Kansas City had 6,000 fresh cattle on sale. The mark ei was luny i cents lower and has .shown very little strength since, in fact, killers and order buyers have been very independent all week and only boughtsuch cattle as just suited . them. Top steers have sold at $5.00 to $5.10 and good 1200 to 1300 lbs dressed- beef cattle at $4.60 to 75. Even the fat, tidy, light steers have been considerably neglected and are selling lower. The very tempting prices paid for stockers and feeders the past two weeks created heavy receipts for that kind and yard traders who loaded up heavily last week had to sell their cattle at a sharp lss this week. " It is remarkable how light the re ceipts of cows and heifers are; even aays wnen we Have liberal runs, they An Irishman named J. J. McCarty stopped at- the city hotel last Sunday night.
