Rohrbacher, 7 1-2 miles northeast of Wa-Keeney. Among Our Exchanges. Reports from growing wheat, while not buoyant, are somewhat encouraging. While many fields are hopelessly beyond redemp tion there is a fair acreage that will make a good crop. Ness County News. Nearly a half inch of rain fell last Saturday night which re lieved the growing anxiety over the wheat crop prospect. The wheat was holding up well and now with plenty of moisture there should be more than an average crop of wheat grown in Graham county this year. Hill City Republican. It does't cost much to get a man married. He buys a new suit of clothes, two suits of un derwear, three extra pair of sox, has his hair cut and is ready. But think of the stuff a girl thinks she must buy when she gets married! Are girls so su perior to men that they cannot get married without fifteen or twenty times more clothes. Atchison Globe. - The total of deposits for the banks of the district for April 1, 1910 are: Russell county (10) $1,293,540.14 Ellis county (5) 611,469 49 Trego county(5) 441,093.48 Logan county (5) 412,141.63 Gove county(o) 329,706.55 Wallace eounty(3) 126,156.88 Excepting Ellis county the varia tion agrees largely with popula tion. Luray Herald. The past week has been favor able to wheat in Osborne county. There have been no heavy rains any place, but most every .town ship in the county has had show ers varying from a quarter to a half inch. Early , this norning about half an inch of rain fell, and prospects were for a rainy day or two. The wind comes from the right direction. Osborne Farmer. Last week the P. V. Elevator Co. sold twenty-one of their ele vators along the Union Pacific railway to the Shellenbarger Mill and Elevator Co., of Salina, and takes in the elevators at Hays, Russell and Quinter. This makes thirty-four elevators out side of Salina that this company now own and they will build a large terminal elevator at Salina to receive from outside ones in stead af shipping to Kansas City as now. Hays Free Press. The field meet here last Satur day was very interesting. Many scholars and some friends ar rived from the different schools. The exercises began in the morn ing, at noon Plainville was -ahead, at supper time Wa-Keeney had gained first place, but when the evening exercises were over the Russell schools had won the first prize. The Oakley, Colbv and Hill City schools were not repre sented as expected, A number of the young folks came in autos and enjoyed the trip. Hays City Free Press.
