SYMPTOMS OF THE DISEASE. -
V common consequence of this affection is a kind
of tenesmus, or bearingdown sensation, as it is
familiarly called; t lie re is also heat, tension and
throhhinnr in the nart. varvin? from a moderate de
gree of these sensations to the most excruciating suf-
ferine; these are caused by the great How of blood
to the parts. Sometimes theinnercoatof the i bowels
protrudes at every evacuation, forming what is called
Prolapsus, or falling of the bowels; this is the effect
of long continued irritation and weakness of that oi
gan. In some instances the patient experiences ner
vous pains, which are tndiscribanle, and known on
