eral tax law.
Section ninety-five of the Itw enacts, "Tliat
if any person or jxTsons slu'l make, sijru or
i-sue, or cause to be made, signed or issued,
any instrument, dKUtnent, or paper of any
kind or dcsenption wliatoevcr, without the
same Ln;inj duly stamped for denoting the
duty hereby impoavd, or without having
thereujon an adhesive stamp to denote said
duty, surli jcr!on or perons shall incur a pen
alty of SoO, an 1 such instrument, document
or paper, a aforesaid, shall be deemed invalid
antl ot no elieet.
It will be seen that this section both imposes
a line and invalidates the dojument lor the
non-u-e of the stamp. As the instruments,
documents, &c, referred to, embrace nearly
every couunon written transaction of busi
ness, me people ougnr, oeiore me nrsi or u
tober, to familiarize themselves with the sche
dule. We, therefore, publish it, advising our
readers to preserve it for future reference:
