CnEase6xr OF~ FE, N. 70 Camp street, Saturday Morniug, April 5 1856. A fair dematld has prevailed in our general market during the paslt week, and the rates for most articles have been well sus tained. Cotton hIs gone of freely, and factors bhve realized full prices, notwithstanding the a5counts of a depressed market nt Liverpool, brought by the last two Europanu steamers. The supply of Sugar and Molasrs have rather exceeded the demand during a portion of the week, but prices are without much change. Tobacco as been rmand in active request. The re ecipts of Western Produce have been quite moderate, and we have noticed an advance in the rates for Flour and most articles of provisions since our last report. Corn, however, has been lower. Freights hlave been dull, and 6ome of tile recent trans. actions have been at a slight decline in the rates. ExcIhanges have been heldl irmly, and mostly above the views of buyers, and the business has been moderate. The Canada's accounts, embracing dates from Liverpool to tie 15th ult., were received by telegraph early on Saturday. They reported a dull Cotton market at Liverpool, with sales for the week of 46,000 bales, of which 6000 were for speculnatll slid for export, the closing rates showing adecline of 1-16@3e - 5 b, mostly on the Middling and lower grades. Breadstuffs had con. siderably advanced, and Consols were active at higher rates. On Thursday morning we published the Alanntic's advices, binging up our dates to the 191th ult. The Cotton market at Liverpol was still reported dull, land prices were represented Is easier, though not quotably lower. The sales subsequent to thie Canada's departure were stated at 19,0 bales. IBread6stnfs were reported without furlther chang, but dull, and Consols had declined, closing at 91%@9233. COTTONS....We closed our last weekly review on a quiet but arm Cotton market, the 6ales of Friday reaching barely5501 bales, though tile total business of the week ending with that day embraced nearly ,.000 bales, the largest amount ever sold in this market in a single week. On Saturday buyers came for ward pretty freely, and witlh a better supply, tile sales reached 13,000 bales, the Canada's accounts producing noperceptible er6ct. On Monday there was only a poor supply on the market, and with full rates claimed by factors, only about 60061 bales were sold, but on Tuesday the stock on sale was larger, and 12,500 bales changed hands, at prices requiring an advance of :e in our quotations. On Wednesday the demand opened with coulnderable spirit, but the business was checked by a reduced supply, and the announcement, early in tile day, of te6 Atlan tie's accounts, still the sales reached 11,51 batles, at firm prices, mostly before the publication of the foreign news. On Thurs day tie supply was moderate, and prices were firm, especially for thebtter qualities, whlich were most in request, and the sales embraed nearly 9,500 bales. Yesterday barely 6,500 bales were sold, making a total for the week of 59,000 bales, the mar ket closing at about the range of our qnottions, as follow : N'EW ORLEANS CLASSIFICATION.
