We have been informed that the usual practice of planters, in ordering their supplies of our Dr. McLANE'S Celebrated VERMIFUGE, Hu been to simply write or order Vermtitge. The conse quence is tht Instead of the genoine Dr. McLANE'S Yermi tre, they very freqently get one or other of the many worth lees preparatitns called Vermlfa e now before the public. We therefore beg leave to urge upon the planter the propriety and importmae of invariably writing the name it fall, and to ad vie their factor or agents that they will not recelve any ether than the genuine Dr. McLane's Celebrated ermlfgse, pre. pared by Fleming Brothers, Pittsburgh, Pa. We would alm addvis the same precautions In odering Dr. McLANE'S Celebrated LIVER PILLS. The geeut popularity of these Plls, as spetlie eor cre for Liver COmplaint, and all the bilious derangement so preealent to the South hu In duoed the vendors of many worthless nostrums to claim for their preperattens slmilat medletoal virrtue. Be not deceivd Dr. MeLANE'S Celebrated LIVER PILLS Are the original and moly reliable remedy for Liver Complaints that ha yet been disovered, and we urge the planter and mer chant, as he values his own and the health of those depending on him, to be careful in ordering. Dear ire I wentto Mobile on Monday. and lvisited the works of the Sonthern Oil Company, and hnd explained to me fully the proess by which they refne the Oil, and "expel entirely the pyrollgneous acid and ammonia, and Impart the alkaline pro pety so e ssential to all lutrlcatory oils." This Is reteeley what all Roein Oil makers heretofore have failed to do, and what lhasn caned the well-founded prejudice ageainst the Oil as without the features which I have mnea. t toInned, (quoted above) the Oil would possee no nvalue for lurt eatln purposes, while with the discoveries made, and syste now in use at the Moldie Works, I eliesvethe Oil will prove far superior t oanm other 011 fer lubricating purposes, more eepe cially in cold climates. The Recent Kentacky Tragedy. The Louisville Courier, of the 4th ia.t;gives the particulars of the affray i Haweaille, y., an the 18th inst, but the writer of the eeoamat.appeam to have been much prejudiced in regard to the allr. He says : A fewd had existed for a ytý.b hate OIa Cicero Maxwell, Common welth'e AotdnJey o t judicial district, which hedtteorigi&(n psý fp . Lowe sent his adversary a ebahl gs.somsiasiitnee, which he refused to notice. Lows then r t him word he would cowhide him on sight. Maxw did Iot attend court at the last term, and It aid for the reason he wished to avoid a personal .nfct with his determined and desperate foe. The Court met on Tuesday, and Lowea ubelany de clared Maxwell a poltroonand a coward. The nfor mation was given to Maxwell, who ermed himself, and, with a party or frinds, atitaLed Lowe, The latter, as we related yesterday, retreated. A number of shots were fired, one of which killed man named Aldridge,or Eatring. Lowe was wounded andmdially caught. It wte thought for a whlile the b mb woul lynch hm, but finally he was taken to prisn uddl armed. The town was feverish with exciteoennt and, on Wednesday night, the mob, who of oemse hated Lowe, (mobs always hate brave men,) rsed in numbers and the thirst for blood. Dring the night it was decided to force the jail and lynch Lowe, or,if they cold'nt approach him, kill him outright Ou yesterday morning, in accordance with the plans, the mob attacked the ail, and feaing toi hy hands upon their victim, fired upon him. Be received some sixteen or eighteen balls in vital parts, and died instantly. Glutted with vengeance the mob then retired. Lowe leaves a family who reside In Haweseille. His father lives in this city. He was a cool, deter mined, and must daongerous man. In all of his broils and shooting affairs, from which, until this, he came out unscathed, he displayed an extraordinary degree of courage, and he doubtless died as he lived, without fear of mortal man. If Lowe was a "most dangerous man," end had been engaged In numerous " bolls and sheoting affairs," his fate can hardly excite much murprise or regret. Too many such men are still n eListenpr. SIuNorLAR AND FATAL AccsIDanMw.-O.Fday, the 18th, three men were buried alive in s well, which was beiog dug on the Court-House grounds. Their names were Joseph Grandidter, Andrew Wheelao and John M. Nolan, The first two ware engaged in digging the well when the earth caved in upon them, and the last went down to their asistance. The fol lowing are the circumstances : About 9 o'clock yesterday, A. M.,the workmen engaged on the Court-Houas were alstarted by the cry of help, from a well that was being sunk near by, on the Court-House grounds. On proceeding totbe spot, it was found that the earth had cared in with such force as to crush the curbing, and had buried two men beneath.
