extra letter. She is now signalized at the Moro
Castle, and I hasten to my task. I wrote you yes
terdfiy per Capt. Mctohnell, ofithe Habada, of the
suspension of the firm of Fernandes, Sohimper &
Co., of this city and Maltanss. Sinqe then I have
received authentic information of the result of a
meetting of the ereditors ofihe fra. It was re
solved to put their 'affalini liquldation; it being
understood that Sr. Leon Crespo, the wealthy
planter and merchant of Matanzas, will enter into
some comrination immediately " for securing, con
tinuing and nuasing " the connections of the firm
bothbere and atat tanzas. This will be alike ben
eficial to Messrs. F., S. & Co. and to their creditors.
In a few months we shall again see the members of
that house, I hope, in as flourishing a condition as
before their recent mishap, which is attributable to
no fault of theirs.
Proeceeding np our harbor last evening, I ob
served the schooner Fannie, of Philadelphia, on
the floating dock built at New Orleans some months
ago. On her last passage from Philadelphia she
was ashore thirteen hours on the rocks about sixty
miles from Nassau, and sustained some damage,
which can now be repaired here. She is the first
American vessel that has been in the dock.
The Government newspaper of this morning
again publishes the "Royal Order" respecting
vessels from foreign ports coming to Cuba, Porto
Rico, etc., of 1st July last, of which I sent you a
summary soon after its first publication here. It
is to go into effect on 1st December next. No
alteration in the dispatching of mail steamers is to
take place in consequence of the Royal Order.
Vessels from foreign ports at which there is not
'any Spanish Consul are exempt from its provisions,
as are also the fishing smacks from neighboring
coasts which are constantly entering and leaving
the ports of this Island. Won't there be some
" smuggling" by means of these fishing smacks!
My private letters received this morning from
Jamaica speak of wretchedly dull times and of
several heavy failures. I am not in possession of
the names of the latter.
The Maretzek Opera Company open to-morrow
evening at the Teutro Pacon with 11 Barbiere.
Gassier is to be the Rosina. I shall probably be
present. It has been raining continuously all day,
preventing all out-door business. Consequently I
have nothing to add to my report of our markets of
yesterday.
The following were the sales of articles from the
United States reported last evening: 200 kegs but
ter at $23 per quintal; 300 boxesraisins at $3 each;
2000 cabbages at a reserved rate. Lard sold yes
terday at my last quotations.
A Spanish ship (name not remembered) cleared
for New Orleans yestesday. No arrivals or sail

- Ocrosan 26.--The Grenada is detained until this
morning. The following were the sales of Ameri
can produce yesterday: 24 bbls. beans from New
York at 7?rials per arobe; lard, bbls. at $17 75 to
$18 25, kegs $19 per quintal; 50 boxes French
stearino candles at $38 per qeintal. Nothing more
to add.
S. N. MooDY.-We again have the gratification
of asking attention to the advertisement of Mr. S. N. Moody,
andof rencwedly announolng that he is not only back a: his old
post but that he Is there prepared to met every demand of his
many customers, having retumed from hit business tour with a
stok of goods o varied and excellent as even to surpass any

goods trade of the Crecent City. Ilo has made his calculatious
to dispose of this eawno about twice as great a alue of goods as
during ay preceding, and In this he is justiied not only by the
ausplcotos signo of the times but the history of his own businoess

he d an a el largely he has determined to sell more cheaply
than ever, and visitors to his well-know--Ihecouutry-orve store

marked down his dterable and esental ware to the very lowest
