The CrOLERo IN ST. PETrcashoi.--The St.
Petersburg correspondent of the Londoln Herald
writes, under date of August 21st: 1l The cholera
appears to be steadily on the decrease. Many
prhonto well acquainted with the city declare ,hat
there is not more cholera now than there has been
usually at this season for many years past. For
the seven days ending July 31st, the new cases of
cholera daily averaged 255, of which60 were fatal.
From the first appearance of the disease on June
26th urp to the end of last month, 7191 eases are
reported, withl2194'death. AtCronatdt,upto the to
2-th ultimo, oat of 491 persona attacked, 263 had so
died, showing a much highrer rate of mortality.
The Emperor was in town on July 28th, and visited
several of the hospitals, whlere he addressedla
nwords of comflort and consolation to the cholera
1patients."
A correspondent of the Bund of Berne, writing
fro'm Zorich, says: "One of my friends, who has
ijut arrived from Frankfort, relates the following :
