The only quotable variation that has trans pired in financial movements to-day, was a decline of 10n1 per cent. in rates of Gold, influenced ex clusively by the downward tendency of the New York market. The supply was larger than here tofore, and with a steady demand for Custom house purposes and for shipment by the Texas steamers, a fair amount changed hands during the day, as will be seen by the subjoined state ment of actual sales, viz : $10,000 in the morning at 148; $4000, $10,000, $12,000, and $20,000 at 147$; $3000 and $5000 at 147}; $2000, $5000 and $18,000 at do.; $4000, $5000, $10,000, $10,000 and $10,000 do. at 1174; [$20,000 at 147 ; $15,000 at 146,; ; $17,000 at 146d, and $2000 at 146d,. COTTON--Themarkethasexhibited a fair degree of animation throughout to-day, without, how ever, having the appearance at any time of being especially active. The advices from Liverpool and New York, though not of a character to jus tify any advance in prices, were sufficiently en couraging, nevertheless, to impart increased strength to the movement, and the sales, which amounted to 4500 bales, were effected at gradually hardening rates. We, however, repeat previous quotations, with the remark that the tendency of operations has been steady to the outside figures, viz : Ordinary, 30@32c.; good ordinary, 33@34c.; low middling, 35@36o., and middling, 38o. It is worthy of special notice that the sales for the week ending last evening, very nearly equaled the receipts, the former footing up 18,150 bales, and the latter 19,870; whilst, if we include the operations of to-day, the sales will show an excess on the receipts.
