A Line From Nick Stark. The News this week received a letter from C. Nick Stark, formerly well known here as "Snake Editor." Nick seems to be doing well, and among other thing mentioned the marriage of Ward Thomas, also formerly of the News, as follows: "Discouraged and disheartened, Ward Thomas, formerly band mas ter and expert leer tester of Will liams, committed suicide at Springer, New Mexico, by hanging himself on the (h) altar of matri mony. The enclosed clipping from the Springer Sentinel will give de tails of the horrible affair": MARRIED. Everybody was expecting such to hapjten, yet it was a surprise to them all, when on Saturday even ing, the 27th, Ward Thomas, of this place, and Mrs. L. B. Clarke, of Las Vegas, were married by the Rev. B. F. Baker at the M. E. parsonage. Unly a few intimate friends were present. After the happy event they retired to the residence of Mr. and Mr. A. Sever, where they were treated to an ele gant supper and then departed for their home on Cimarron avenue, where they were pleasantly sur prised to find the Springer Concert band, all decked out in their best, ready to play some of their best se lections, which they did to the de light of all, for the boys blew as as they never blew before, after which the groom thanked them in a few well chosen words. Both of these worthy young jeo- ple have the well wishes of their many friends in this community. May happiness and success In? their lot through life. W. C.
