There is no new feature to notice In the condi
tion of (be money market. The supplyof curren
cy is still spperabundant and the demand for ac.
commodation is exceedingly.restricted. Rates of
interest and disconat remaia nominally anchanged,
however, and we again repeat previous figures as
follows, vie: 8 1 cent. V annum at bank, and 1Q
14 V oat. month out of doors for short gal
edged paper. and 10t 12 : cent. ;i annum for
long dated notes secured by strictly Al city mort
gage.
GooLD An llBrven-The movement in the pre
close metals continues to diminish, but rates are
still very firmly maintained. The demand and
supply during the past week have been light
thLoughont, and while quotations have generally
fluctuated in accordance with the variations in
prices in New York, the tendency of the market
has been for the most part in favor of holders and
sellers. Operations to-day comprised the fInltw
iog amounts, viz $2000, o4000, $600, 414 4o0
and $12,000 Gold at 140,. $3)'10 and $2: (N at

FoRxrow Excrut.ert-Operaions in Sterlinl and

have been fully as heavy as coult have been ex

season. Offerirgr of commercial bills have been
slightly augmented from day to day by moierate
plurchases of cotton for the foreign markets. sond
rates have been upheld more by the firaoceis of
quotations at New York than by any active or
general competition here. Transa-tion4 to day
comprised the annexed amounts, viz : £100 hank

Exchange since the date of our last regular sam

fallen off in the early part of the week resumed
their previous firmness before the close. Pl'a.

t're:rl'arNT Nores AND S's KItIr.s-The issues
of the city have fluctuated almost beyond precedent
during the past week. Rates have gone up ant
down in accordance with the fre;ent rumors of
action or procrastination as to :?oir redemptltua
by the aldermaiic boards. No acceptable p.au
for their total extinction has yet been adopted,
however, and it is impossible to predict what the
future may develop as regrrdi this immacnlate
currency. I.ouisaana State and Bank of L,musiana

trent in nearly all 'lasses of stoces and bands
continues stipened. $1000 city notes were srd
